AL Game 2
Five Star 4
Yeah baseball is a game. A great pastime played for fun and recreation. But tell that to the boys from Quotations Restaurant. In their season opener they were all business as they took on Five Star defeating them 14-4 in 4 innings. The 2006 MLL American League season was definitely on, and Quotations was serving up base hits like blue plate specials to a busload of hungry gamblers just back from Atlantic City.
Leading the charge offensively were Brian Treston (3 singles, 2 runs scored), John Ferruzzi (2 singles, 3 runs scored), Kellen Edmondson (single, double, triple, 3 runs scored), Pete Mamola (single, 2 runs scored), Ben Geiger (single, double, 2 runs scored) and P.J. Quinn (2 singles and a double with 1 run scored). Nate Engleka added a run after being walked in the 2nd inning and Rowan Baber hit a double to drive in a run in the 1st. All in all, a good day at the office for the businessmen in red.
Defensively Pete Mamola pitched 3 strong innings racking up 7 strikeouts while giving up only one run in the 1st. Kellen Edmondson came on in relief for 1 inning to close out in the 4th making the final out with a pop up to the pitcher.
For Five Star, Clay Anderson started out the top of the 4th with a lead-off triple, but then was thrown out trying to steal home. Then Conor Bradley banged a triple to drive in Damon Branch who had walked and Dan Enterlin who had reached first base on an error. Conor then scored on Justin Barkerís ground out to third. Unfortunately it was not enough to get Five Star under 10 runs and push the game into the bottom of the 4th.
