NL Game 19
HAP A's 5
Wilson Safe Rockies 1
rematch of a game from 3 days prior, the Wilson Safe Rockies and HAP A's played
another close game between longtime rivals.
In the first inning, Steve McAlee and Colin McGuire collected hits but the A's got out of the inning before any Rockies crossed the plate. The A's hitters went on their usual tear in the top of the first collecting 3 runs on four hits including a two-run single by Calvin Samson.
Jack Daly led off the second with a hit and later scored the Rockies only run of the afternoon. A's shortstop Calvin Samson made a nice grab on an Andrew Wilson line drive. The A's added one run in the bottom of the 2nd behind singles from Chris Heinerichs and Daniel Enterlin. The A's scored one final run in the third after consecutive singles by Calvin Samson, Ashton Raines, and Sam Naismith.
The rest of the game was highlighted by strong pitching performances from both teams. In 2 1/2 innings of pitching, no runs were allowed by either team. A's pitcher Calvin Samson retired the Rockies in order in the 4th while recording 2 strikeouts. Rockies pitcher Colin McGuire struck out the side in the bottom of the 4th. Rockies pitcher Steve McAlee (2 K's) and A's pitchers Sean Myers (3 K's) and Daniel Enterlin (2 K's) also pitched scoreless innings.
Calvin Samson was credited with the win. Daniel Enterlin got the save.
