NL Game 17
Conley Ward Steakhouse 1
Once again, Caramanico played great defense, pitched well and hit the ball -- the formula for success. In the top of the first, Conley-Ward hit the ball but great defense kept them scoreless. After Neal Geosits started the game with a line single to center, Brian Beck hit a scorching groundball to shortstop Alex McLaughlin, who got the force at second and just missed a double play at first. Two batters later Tobias Gabel hit a foul pop towards the first base dugout. Catcher, Ethan Heller threw off the mask, ran and made a diving catch for the second out. Jason McLarney then hit a hard grounder to Alex McLaughlin, who threw to first baseman, Bryan Leonard for the third out. Caramanico got 4 in the bottom of the first thanks to key hits by Alex Mulhearn, Alex McLaughlin, Bryan Leonard, Joseph Buckley and Timmy Buckley. The defense continued in the second for Caramanico, with a nice play being made by Kevin Murphy, playing second base. Caramanico got 1 in the second and three in third thanks to hits from Brian Dougherty, Alex Mulhearn, Alex McLaughlin, James Kantor, Bryan Leonard and Kevin Murphy.
Pitching was strong for Caramanico, with Bryan Leonard pitching 2 scoreless innings, while recording 5 strikeouts and only two walks. Ethan Heller pitched a scoreless sixth inning and made a fine play on a soft ground ball between the mound and the plate, throwing to first baseman Bryan Leonard for the out.
