ML Game 44
Peterson ended their regular season with an 8 inning win. Fine pitching by both sides and very strong defensive plays resulted in a 5 – 5 tie at the end of 6 innings. Kevin Melone of Hagan had 14 strikeouts in 6 innings while Thomas Weathers of Peterson had 7 strikeouts in his 4 innings. Ben Davis closed the game with 2 strikeouts in the bottom of the 8th.
In the bottom of the 6th, Cole Gamber made a miraculous foul pop fly catch, on the first base side, while crashing and bouncing off the fence. Ron Tassoni was strong behind the plate making a nice catch on a towering high fly off Scott Pattons bat in the 7th. Also great catches in the outfield by Johnny Allen and Nick Quintans held off Hagans offense.
Peterson’s offense was led by Ben Davis (3 – 4), Tom Weathers (2 – 4) and Darren Lucca (1 – 2). All three had clutch hitting RBI doubles. Hagans Julian Heller, Kevin Melone and Matt Leonard all went 2 – 3 offensively.
