AL Game 24

Kish Funeral Home    14

Meenan Oil    1

Kish Funeral Home won their fourth straight with a victory over Meenan Oil in difficult playing conditions in the cold and rain.  The first inning ended in 1 - 1 tie with Meenan throwing out Kish runners at home twice, including a nice toss from catcher Frank Gentile to pitcher Ian Campbell covering home.  Campbell had to make a diving tag to get Kish's speedy Bryan Mizell.  Kish scored three more in the second frame and then broke the game open with ten runs in the third.  The hitting stars for Kish were Pete Scheuerman (3 for 3), Josh Bannister (2 for 2, 3 runs) and Mike Roberts (2 for 3).  Bryan Mizell and Brian Treston each chipped in with doubles.  Bobby Juliana came on to pitch for Meenan in the fourth inning and quickly quieted the Kish bats but too much damage had already been done.  Kish starting pitcher Mike Roberts walked only one batter in three innings o f pitching with a wet baseball.  Roberts was helped defensively by Kish catcher Shay Roddy's perfect peg to second on an attempted steal.  Pete Scheuerman came on in relief and set down the Meenan batters 1-2-3 to close out the game.  Scheuerman also had some help from his fielders including a spectacular, over the shoulder, running catch of a foul pop up right in front of the fence on the left field foul line by Mike Roberts.  Home plate umpire Ed Snow, who has managed several all star teams for Media, later said that it was one of the best catches he had ever seen at Media Little League.
