AL Game 15
This game was originally slated as the last Saturday game but before the first inning could be finished, the skies opened up and both teams got very wet. So they started all over again Sunday and the new field could not have been in better shape. Kish jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning against hard throwing Kevin Bosco. Mike Roberts got the key hit in the inning and he also started the game at pitcher, retiring the first six batters in a row. Josh Bannister helped Roberts from his shortstop position with a web-gem backhand stab in the hole and a strong throw to first for an out.
Kish added two more runs in the third on hits by Connor Barbee and Bannister. Quotations got on the board with two runs in the third on hits by Kellen Edmondson and John McGovern. Kish had their big inning in the fifth, plating five with hard hit singles by Shay Roddy and Mike Roberts and another triple for Bryan Mizell. Dan Buttery rounded out the scoring with a long shot to the gap in right center but he was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double on a nice relay by Quotations. Quotations made a strong comeback in the top of the sixth scoring three runs on hits by John Ferruzzi, Nate Engleka, Kevin Bosco and Kellen Edmondson. With the bases loaded and one out, Kish pitcher Josh Bannister was able to strike out the last two batters and preserve the win for Kish, 9 to 7.
Defensive star for Kish was Shay Roddy with a gutsy performance behind the plate.
