Kish Funeral Home 11, Bill Battey's 4 The perfect weather conditions that prevailed over Opening Weekend continued for this Monday night Matchup between these American League sluggers. The hometeam Batteys, playing their third game in three days, sent Ian DeGrouchy to the mound in the first. Ian fanned the first two Kish batters before issuing three walks to load the bases. Alex Abramowitz then scored the first run of the game on a passed ball. Ian got out of trouble though by getting the next batter to ground into a fielder's choice. In the bottom of the first, Kish pitcher, Hunter Tierney took the mound for his American League pitching debut. Hunter got the dangerous Ian McClarney to ground out to first to start the inning. Good thing, because the next three Battey hitters got hits!! Matt Leonard and Jack Donoghue got back to back singles and then scored on a smash double by Ben Freedman. Hunter settled down after that to get the last next two batters to ground out. In the top of the second, the Kishers regained the lead for good by plating eight, as the Battey's pitching struggled. Alex Abramowitz and Joseph Sincavage got RBI singles in the inning. In the bottom of the second, Alex Donoghue lead off with a single and eventually scored on a passed ball, but that was all Hunter would allow as he got the next batter to ground out to the cather and then got two strikeouts to end the inning. In the top of the third, Jack Donoghue came on in relief for the Batteys to mow down the top of the Kish batting order for three quick outs on a strikeout, ground out and pop out. In the bottom of the third, Matt Leonard and Jack Donoghue were at it again, leading off the inning with back-to-back singles. Hunter Tierney did not give up, however, and prevented the runners from scoring by striking out the next two batters and getting a groundout to steady firstbaseman, Mike Naimoli. Hunter Tierney led off the top of the fourth with a walk and then the Battey's Human Vacuum Cleaner, Ian McClarney, turned a double play on a sharply hit ball up the middle. The next batter, Mike Naimoli, then smashed a triple to deep center and scored on an RBI single by Tom Smith. The Batteys got out of the inning as Jack Donoghue notched his third strikeout. In the bottom of the fourth, Hunter Tierney got some great defensive help from second baseman, Zack Calo. Zack fielded a sharply hit leadoff grounder by Alex Lamborn and then got Geoffrey Harper at second on a fielder's choice. Matt Leonard then got his third hit of the night, a titanic triple to deep right center that scored Ian McClarney. Hunter Tierney prevented Matt from scoring by getting the next batter to ground out to the mound. Jack Donoghue got his fourth strikeout to start the fifth and the Human Vacuum Cleaner, Ian McClarney, snagged another blast up the middle to get the speedy Dan Henry at first. The Kishers got one more run on back-to-back singles by Beau DiFiore and John McGovern before the inning ended on a ground out to second. In the bottom of the fifth, Dan Henry came on in relief of Hunter Tierney, striking out two and getting a ground out to Mike Naimoli, who made a nice play at first. The game was called on account of darkness before the sixth inning started, allowing the Kishers get their second win. Stars of the game were Hunter Tierney, Mike Naimoli and Zack Calo for the Kishers and Ian McClarney, Jack Donoghue and Matt Leonard for the Batteys.
