Welcome to the Martinette Baton and Drum Corps Homepage. They are sponsered the Washington Twp. Fire Department.
During the past 30 years the Martinettes have had the pleasure of involving children from the entire Mid Mon Valley in their award winning parade routines and competion performances. Some of the best twirlers and musicians in our local high school bands today are, or have been, martinettes! Some of the areas those children are from are: Belle Vernon, Brownsville, California, Charleroi, Monongahela, Monesson, Perryopolis, West Newton, ect..
The Martinettes are a competitive marching unit. We have also held both Washington County and Fayette County Fireman's Conventions titles, and the current PA Firemans State Champions (Sr. Division). Children as young as 3 years of age (baton twirlers, not drummers) are accepted into the corps and many stay well into they're college years.
As a member of our corps he/she will work hard year round to accomplish their summertime goals. They will make new and lasting friendships. They are taught to work together as a team and to realize the importance of every performance. A martinette takes pride in his/her perfomance and feels a sence of responcibility to the corps. The self esteem each child gains during their years will stay with them throughout their lives, and mainly they will have fun. Many communities from the surrounding counties invite the Martinettes to their celebrations for their award winning performances!
