Mix equal portions of introspective brooding, girlish exuberance and a paced-yet-pounding guitar/keyboard assault, and you'll have Jane Jensen's debut album. Jensen builds a stylistic bridge between Curve and Nine Inch Nails while leaving plenty of room for side trips to odd little musical subdimensions. The real standout track is "Luv Song", a giggly, vaguely atonal, country-guitar peppered listing of the attributes of an ideal boyfriend. "More Than I Can" sees Jensen at her most bitter, while the pounding "Highway 90" casts her as a sort of dark-side tour-guide. Throughout the disc Jensen alternates between seductive pouting and unrestrained squealing a la post-head-trauma Bjork. It's a weirdly wonderful mix that deserves your attention. --gz
