Trust Me

Verse 1

"Good morning Andrew, good morning John James and Zeb
I been up all night, don't know why I aint in bed
The fish are nowhere, so why strain the nets
Still I was sleepless, and so my eyes are tainted red.

"We'll go home poor with not a dime to pay the rent
I could beg for money, but I'll cry and pray instead
And then tonight we'll try this lake again
Tomorrow we'll have fish, broiled, fried, baked or breaded!"

I was feeling yucky, so I decided to take a swim
When they pulled up the nets, I tried to race them in
I guess I was too tired, I was denied to take a win
I crawled up on the beach and gave a wide fake grin.

Then I saw a Stranger, and looked at Him for a sec
He looked as if He was on a long mission I guess
As He came close, He parted His lips and He said
"Go and let your nets back in for a catch."

There I was, wet as a frog, and dead as a dog
I just wanted to go home to my bed and saw logs
I looked at the guys and their eyes spoke "Must we?"
Then I looked back at the Stranger and He just said "Trust Me."

"Trust Me," says the Lord, "you don't need that human fright.
"Put your trust in Me and everything will be alright.
"I made the whole universe, nothing's too tricky.
"Put your trust in Me when hurt, needy or sickly.
"I'll give you strength through your trials, you'll come through them with ease
"You can stand up through it all if you fall on your knees
"I go a great distance to offer My Love
"You won't make it on your own, so give Me your trust!"

Verse 2

There's thousands of people on this hill and they listen
To Jesus Christ speak unfailing truth and wisdom
It's getting late, and we're miles from nowhere
And I'm feeling hungry too, so don't say I don't care.

It's a long way home, and I wonder if they'll make it
They might get so hungry, they'll start fainting
Out here there's no place we can buy food
If I could I would supply, well, at least try to.

He stops speaking so I whisper in His ear:
"These people are not gonna make it very far, I fear."
He said, "Go and collect any food they got
"And bring it back to Me, the multitude won't drop."

So I got what I could, it's just five loaves, two fish
I brought them back to Him, said, "These alone I get."
He said, "Tell them to sit down into groups of fifty."
I started to wonder if He was loopy or whifty.

He lifted up His eyes and He blessed the bread
The food looked as though it would feed less than ten
I looked at the Lord and I said, "They'll stay hungry!"
He looked back at me and said, "Peter, trust Me."

Verse 3

This is turning out more than a fairytale, you see
He's truly the Messiah teaching us how to be
We left Him back on land, we're out on Galilee
But the wind is so strong we might just drown in the deep.

It is the fourth watch and we're all getting weary
We're taking turns rowing, I guess nobody is steering
Out across the water I see a walking Man nearing
I try to cry out, but nobody is hearing.

Soon they all notice and groans erupt into screams
We think it is a ghost, I'm ready to jump in the sea!
We hear a gentle voice and know it wasn't the breeze
Again we hear Him speak, He says, "Cheer up! It is Me!"

Then, stupid me, I had to open my trap
I said, "Lord, if it's You, let me walk over where you're at."
I heard the guys mutter, "I think Peter's gone nutsy!"
But I'll keep looking to Jesus cause He keeps saying, "Trust Me!"
