True Happiness

Verse 1

Life liberty and pursuit of happiness
You can keep pursuing but you won't be grasping it
Cause happiness through things just aint happening
The richest man in the world is still lacking it.

Even at the best of times happiness is eluding
You think it might be found in a rush like parachuting?
But as you hurl down towards earth, something's still missin'
Seems that happiness still seems just a little distant.

So you try to fill the void with material things
A platinum chain, ice, imperial rings?
A giant screen TV with cold beer and hot wings?
The entire collection of some dear little things?

Lamborghini Diablo? Wardrobe of fly clothes?
A castle up in the green mountains near Glasgo?
A business in Chicago? Beach-front in Monaco?
Or ordering your favorite kind of pizza by the truck loads?

Still haven't found it, so you keep trying
But the true happiness justs keeps defying
You have your life made, there's no denying
But still you can't avoid sighing... It's cause:

Chorus

You can't build your Heaven in this world
Eternal life, start investing in this pearl
True happiness is found in a life with Christ
And an absolute filling doesn't have a price.
So if you want happiness, fall to your knees
Check out what happens when you call on Jesus
It's not a big box that's delivered to your door
It's nothing you can see, yet it's so much more.

Verse 2

When you see an advertisement, it's seems their smile's stuck
That's because they want you to think happiness is in their product
But don't buy it, no I mean the scheme
It won't turn out all smiles the way it seems.

Happiness was found in the Garden of Eden
But Man turned his back and God told him to leave Him
And mankind is still trying to get back in
We force each other down so ourselves can win.

We struggle and we fight just so we can get back
To the way Adam felt before he fell for the trap
Ninety-nine percent of our efforts are from pride
We even love each other for our own feelings inside.

But our everyday companion is that constant emptiness
It's about time we should be attempting this:
To give all we have for that one great gift
A happiness that abides through the ages.

Verse 3

There was a man who was digging in the field
When he came across a pearl, he let out a squeal
A pearl in a field! It seemed unreal
So he buried it again so he could seal the deal.

He went back home and sold all his possessions
His house his horse and his garden tool collection
He sold all he had, be mindful of this
Cause now that pearl could be rightfully his.

People found him crazy but he got his plan
With all his money he bought that plot of land
He owned the lone pearl and you gotta love that
Cause now he found happiness and didn't want his stuff back.

That pearl was eternity and you should invest
Give all you have and you shall be blessed
See first His Righteouness and the Kingdom of the Lord
And all of these things will be added to your store.

And you will find that happiness...
True happiness comes from obeying Jesus!
