Trust Me
The Point: Faith.
The message: I'll keep looking to Jesus, cause He keeps saying, "Trust Me!"
The Scoop: Why doesn't the world trust God anymore? Wasn't it God who CREATED the world? Who dares to say no? So if indeed God created everything, doesn't He still have power over everything? Again, yes. Did God EVER in history say He would leave us? Absolutely not, the last thing Jesus said before He ascended was, "I am with you always, even to the very end." Did God EVER take His power away? No! We have His presence with us in the form of the Holy Spirit. Now it comes to this... wouldn't God still love... and protect... and heal... and guide... ALL who follow Him today just as He did when He walked the earth Himself, and just as He did with all believers throughout history? The answer is yes. He still will, even today. Even when science says it can't be done. He still will.
The Tale: You might notice that the three verses of this song, each of which leads into a miracle that Jesus performed, don't actually follow the scene exactly from the Bible. But did you realize, that with each of the four gospels, these stories were told slightly different. This song isn't focusing on how the Bible is structured, but focusing on the fact that, no matter how it is told, the Lord Almighty is capable of anything. There is no pattern that He has to follow. In verse one, Peter, his brother and two other future disciples of Jesus have been out fishing all night but didn't catch a single fish. When they had called it quits and were about to return home, Jesus told them to go out again. The end results? Consult Luke 5: 5-11. In verse two, Jesus and His disciples are in the wilderness. Peter wonders how the people will survive for they are far from home andd have no food to eat. The Lord solves the problem, however. Check out Matthew 14:16-21. Before you close your Bibles, the story from verse two leads into verse three. The disciples are rowing hard against the wind on the Sea of Galilee when the Lord comes to them, walking on the water. Peter asks the Lord if he may walk out to meet Him. Read the rest of the story in Matthew 14:25-33, and notice what happened to Peter when he doubted.
The Idea: I didn't come up with any of this myself, it's all written in the Bible. We all need to put our full confidence in the Lord for all things. He can and will supply, just trust Him, and He won't let you down. The three miracles listed in this song are far from conclusive on the miracles He performed while here. Even before He was on this earth, His power was available for all who trusted Him. He led the Israelites out of Egypt by parting the Red Sea. He shook the walls of Jericho to the ground. He brought forth children from elderly parents, and even His own Son from a virgin. He made a fig tree wither by just talking to it. He healed men who were blind from birth. He made the lame walk and mute people talk. He raised people from their graves into life again. He promised that if we trust Him, anything is possible!
