HypoChristian
The Point: Shining the Light.
The Message: Religion dimmed, determined by those you hang around.
The Scoop: It is tough in a young Christian's life to remain faithful to God at all times and not flex when around other people who don't believe the same way. When outsiders curse, there is an inclination for a Christian to curse. When they get rowdy, who can resist getting rowdy too? The act of doing what you preach against is called hypocrisy. I, to was a hypocrite. I was a Christian when it was called for, but I didn't want to be left out of the world's fun. Probably every young and learning Christian goes through this.
The Tale: This song illustrates the actions of someone who is acting like a Christian when they should, but doing everything they cry out against when the people around them do it. This song is not to offend anyone but to encourage anyone who can relate to turn their attention to this problem focus on being a Christ ALL the time, not just when it's fitting.
The Idea: This song might sound like I'm really chewing somebody out for their hypocrisy. Truth is, I am, but I'm actually talking about myself from the past. After I came through a particularly bad point in my life, I looked back and wrote about my actions. The things I had done when I really knew they were wrong. HypoChristian is about people who KNOW what they are doing is wrong but continue to do it anyway. It is not an easy thing to get through, and we should not shun people if they are truly striving for right living. We can discuss things with them if they are in our scope of influence, and help them get back on the road to right living. If we push someone out when they are in some way looking at us as an example, we might just shove them over the line into a life of sin all the time. We should NEVER do that.
