Stop and Think
The Point: Forgiving others.
The Message: A simple careless word can cut somebody's soul real deep.
The Scoop: It's hard sometimes. People take advantage of us. Everyone wants more from us. We are taken for granted. In all of this stress, it can sometimes be hard to resist getting angry at someone. We must remember though, that our Lord suffered through far worse things so we could come to Him. We have to be more patient, more loving, and definitely more forgiving to those around us.
The Tale: This song is an interesting tale of a cartain young man and his Saturday morning. First his cousin drives him up to a car dealer to pick up a new car for his sister. On the way home, he gets severely cut off by someone who doesn't seem to event realize what he did. The young man is about to blow up when he recalls the events of the Savior's crucifixion, and how much He went through without a comment. Once he gets home, our lead character is victimized by a telemarketer on the phone who just won't take "no" for an answer. Again he's about to scream at the guy but realizes that the Lord suffered much worse. He hangs up the phone and calls several friends to meet him and play basketball. Once they get started, one of his teammates wants to be the superstar everytime and will not pass the ball for any reason. For the third time, our hero is about to chew somebody out, but thoughts of Jesus Christ dying on a cross and forgiving His own murderers keeps coming back.
The Idea: This song was originally written by one of my great friends, "kwake". His version was much shorter but had the whole storyline right in it. The telemarketer was verse one, the driving episode was verse two and the basketball game was verse three. The first half of the chorus was written by him, word-for-word except "silent as a lamb." I immediately loved the story he wrote, asked him for permission to rewrite it, and now it's track twelve on the CD!
