I Am I Am

The Point: Fearing God.

The Message: Everybody wants to stray and play Me, and on Judgment Day, they say, "Save me from the realm of death!"

The Scoop: God is Almighty and Majestic. He is the first and the last. He is the Creator of everything, and He is far above and beyond our understanding. He made this beautiful planet and created us out of His great love. He wanted us to be happy and joyous. He wants us to love Him. But instead, man turns his back on God and lives the way he wants to. In total wickedness, breaking every commandment God has given and in the worst ways imaginable. The truth is, God STILL loves us, and He is patiently waiting for anyone who will turn back to Him. We are not anywhere near God in love nor understanding. We naturally only care for ourselves. When you find out that you've won is hint number twenty. Someday, God's patience will end and He will destroy all those who have turned away from Him. But He will save all those who fulfill His purpose.

The Tale: "I Am I Am" is told from God's point of view. He speaks in first person throughout this song. He tells of His disappointment in Man, yet His continual love. He warns that there is punishment for him who does not believe, but life for him who turns back to God.

The Idea: I came up with the idea of writing a God's-first-person-point-of-view song one Thursday evening last December, but had few ideas of what I was going to write. On the following Saturday evening, I sat at my computer with my word processing program running. I asked the Lord to give me the words to write. I told Him I didn't want to guess, nor to imagine what He might say, but to actually have His inspiration. The Lord bore witness to my prayer, and that night I had my longest most sophisticated song done. Praise His Name!
