Jonah
What's my callin'? Go to Ninevah
Ha! Watch me! (What?) Like a cinema
God talks to me and I'm usually a listener,
But I hate that place and I aint even gonna visit her.

Hop on a ship and I think you get the picture
Sail away from here so I can end the chore forever more
I am the Lord's messenger, it may not be a pleasant tour
Cause I'm running from God, yes I'm running from your presence Lord.

From the Joppa port, I think that I'm unstoppable
But the Rock of all Ages gets enraged and puts a block on all
Sea trade. And it might seem deranged.
But the Lord allows storms so we can see we need rearranged.

I'm down inside the sloop - pooped - I need to sleep late
But the captain comes and wakes me - and I cannot see straight
He told me to pray - or we date - with pre-fate
So we prayed - no debate - the lot fell on me, mate.

So I jumped ship, it got calm then, aint that something?
My heart was pumpin' - as the water clogged my drunk head
I hit the bottom with a clunk, then - sunk in
Then waited for my moment to be done in. The end.

Chorus

Jonah, Jonah, look out from the boat
It's follow My will or that's all she wrote
Open your mouth and speak what's in your throat
Or Jonah, Jonah, you'll be thrown into the moat.

Verse 2

Don't pity me now - I'm in the pit of a whale
Inhospitable bowels, yes, it's a little like jail
If I'm cynical, pal, just rip it all down
It's kinda hard to move down by the tip of it's tail.

Now - out of the belly of Sheol I cried
And you heard my voice, O Lord my God
You cast me into the deep and I said, "Tata."
But I repent, I'm sorry! Please forgive me, Father!

I'm going to Ninevah, I aint kiddin ya, listen up
It's better to do His will than be a prisoner, it's enough
To make you think twice before denying God's signature
I'll follow His call cause I'm tired of messin' up.

So listen up, city - it won't be pretty
There's forty days left and God won't have pity
He'll tear this place down like Sodom and Gomorrah
So you better repent now and not wait for tomorrow.

People stopped and stared when they heard my mouth blast off
And agreed with each other that everybody should fast, all
People in the city - and even every animal
Repented and lamented and began to wear sackcloth.

Chorus

Jonah, Jonah, look out from the boat
It's follow My will or that's all she wrote
Open your mouth and speak what's in your throat
Or Jonah, Jonah, you'll be thrown into the moat.

Verse 3

So I did it the Lord's way, it's a brand new day
Now the Ninevites come up to me and say 'hey'
But that's not what I wanted, I wanted them all punished
But God saved the city and I stand here astonished.

Ah, Lord, is this not what I said in my own country?
So I fled away to Tarshish thinking that You wouldn't want me
I know You are a loving Lord, I knew you would forgive me
So it's better for me to die than for me to keep on living.

Jonah, is it right for you to be angry? (Yeah even to death!)
I saved you from the sea and you did not even thank Me. (Oops! Oh yeah thanks!)
Now you're getting ticked cause a plant got damaged
A hundred and twenty thousand people mean much more than that plant did.

Now I'll break it all down so the truth will surely get you
Every now and then I will put you to the test to
See if you're willing to follow Me, I suggest you
Listen with no question, or another suggestion, wear a wet suit.

Don't be disappointed if I stop without killing one
You can be joyful cause you know that My will is done
Follow your own path and it will crush like a million tons
Or put My will first, and life will be chillin' son!

Chorus

- Look out from the boat
- Or that's all she wrote
- Speak what's in your throat
- Or you'll be thrown into the moat.
- Look out from the boat
- Or that's all she wrote
- Speak what's in your throat
- Or be thrown into the moat.
