When the Revolution came her life was turned upside down which resulted in chaos, persecution and poverty. She finally escaped to Finland where the authorities threatened to return her along with thirty-two other refugees to Russia. It was the intervention of an American journalist which saved them, and the writer made her way to England which ends this deeply moving section of a fascinating story.
