That's What Friends Are For~Part 2

Colleen had no idea she was running until she ran into someone. "Wow, Colleen, what's the matter?'' Sully asked. He had been on his way inside the homestead when she just ran into him. He saw her tears and asked, "What's the matter? Are you hurt? What happened?" Colleen could hardly talk through her tears. Sully just stood with her until she calmed down.

When she did she said, "Oh, Sully. I was so wrong about everything. I am such a stupid child to think Andrew loved me." She started crying again.

"What do you mean, Colleen, I know he loves you."

"No he doesn't!! If he loved me he never would have kissed Emily!!" Sully couldn't believe his ears. He couldn't imagine Andrew lying to Colleen. He took Colleen inside and went back out to wait for Emily.

Colleen went upstairs to Emily's room to pack for her. She couldn't stay here anymore. Colleen went to get the things off of the dresser when she saw an envolope with Andrew's name on it. Curiosity got the best of her and she opened it. It read:

Dearest Andrew,

I know you want to keep our love a secret from Colleen, but sonner or later she'll figure it out. Let's tell her and hope she understands. Our love will pull us through.
Your darling, Emily

Colleen could not believe her eyes. Andrew really did love her. "No!" Colleen cried. She ran into her room. She wouldn't see anyone that night.

When Emily came home Sully asked her if she could leave. Her presence upsets Colleen. Emily pretended she didn't know what he was talking about. Sully told her Colleen saw her and Andrew kiss. Emily had to turn around to hide a smile, This was better than she hoped. All she had to do know was get a room at the chatue and wait for Colleen to break off the engagement. She agreed to leave immediatly.

The next morning Colleen told the story to Dr. Mike and then resolved to go over to the chatue and tell Andrew the engagement is off herself. Dr. Mike said she would be at the clinic if she needed to come and talk. With that Colleen left.

"I can't imagine what would make Andrew cheat on Colleen," Sully said, coming down the stairs.

"I know," Dr.Mike said, "He always looked so in love with her. Well, I guess it's good Colleen found out now, instead of later. I am going to the clinic now." Sully kissed her goodbye. Alone in the house Sully decided to talk to Andrew. He would go this afternoon. After Colleen had talked to him.

Andrew looked up as someone walked into his office and slammed the door. "Colleen!! I didn't expect to see you! Are you okay?" He couldn't help noticing she had been crying. He walked over to her, but she just moved away.

"I'll be fine after awhile."

"What do you mean? Are you sick?"

Colleen walked over to him and handed him her engagement ring. Andrew looked confused. "I won't be needing this no more seeing as I'm calling off the engagement."

"Why?" Andrew asked, confused. Colleen looked at him and said, "BECAUSE I HATE YOU ANDREW COOK!!" She slapped him and ran out the door, crying. Andrew fell into his chair. He put his hand on his cheek where Colleen had slapped him. She might as well have ripped his heart out and tore it into a million pieces. It would have been less painful then hearing her say she hated him.

A few hours later Andrew heard a knock on his door. "We're closed," he said, but the door opened anyway. Emily came running into the room.

"Oh my poor Andrew!! I just heard what happened!"

"Thank you for your concern, but I'd rather be alone right now."

Emily knelt down beside him and said, "I can't stand to see you like this." Andrew just stared. Emily tried again, "You need to move on Andrew, Colleen is such a crybaby."

"No she's not!! Don't ever insult her again." He got up and walked to the window.

Emily walked up behind him and hugged him, "Come on Andrew, much better things await you."

Andrew quickly saw something bad happening. He moved away towards the open door and said, "Emily, I love Colleen and I am not giving up on the hopes of regaining her love. Please leave and understand that I don't ever want to see you again." He opened the door and she walked out with all the dignity she could muster up.

Sully quickly hid when he heard Emily walking out. He then left. He didn't need to talk to Andrew. He heard everything and had no doubt that the kiss was all Emily's idea. He then rushed home to tell Colleen what he had heard.

"So you think that Andrew had no intention of kissing her?" Colleen asked later that evening.

"None whatsoever. Colleen, he's heartbroken. Just give him a chance." Sully was pleading with his daughter on Andrew's behalf.

"Maybe you should listen to Sully, dear. Why would Andrew cheat on you?" Micheala asked, "He loves you."

"Then what about this letter? I'm sorry but it's going to take some time." Just then they heard horse hoofs outside. It was Andrew. "I don't want to see him. Tell him I'm not up to visitors right now." She ran upstairs to her room.

Andrew knocked on the door. "Well, let's hear his side," Sully said to Micheala before he opened the door.

"Sully is Colleen here? I need to talk to her. It's important."

''Come in and sit down Andrew.'' Sully closed the door and sat down with Andrew and his wife.

"Collen doesn't want to see anyone right now," Micheala said. Andrew just hung his head. He was silent for awhile.

Then he said, "I love Colleen and I have no idea why she would just call off our engagement." He looked at Micheala and Sully, "But you know. Why did she do it?"

Sully told him what Colleen had seen. Andrew turned pale and started to speak, "I had nothing to do with that. She just leaned over and kissed me. I never saw it coming and I asked her never to do it again."

"I believe you, Andrew. I heard you and Emily talking tonight. But Colleen is really upset and it'll take awhile for you to convince her." Sully said.

"She's been heartbroken, Andrew. She just needs time to forgive you and Emily," Micheala assured.

"Well then, I'd better be going." Andrew got up and Micheala followed him to the door. Andrew turned around and said, "Tell Colleen that I love her, and I'm sorry." With that he turned and walked out the door.

Slowly Colleen shut her door and leaned up against it. A tear fell down her face as she said, "What am I going to do? What am I going to do?"
