Oni Lasana means "Desired Poet of the People" and she is a Cultural Arts coach and a creative muse to many. Ms. Lasana shares her gifts as a dynamic, vivacious, spirit driven Performing ARTress, Performance poet, Creative Theatre Director, Storyteller, Musician, Vocalist, Mentor, Jewelry Maker and an enthusiastic advocate of Arts-in-Education. Her life journey is in offering positive cultural awareness programs on African, American and Caribbean cultures to communities worldwide.
Lasana's unique performances & workshops lift the spirits of young and old. Featuring American History, Literature, Theatre & Music fused with a flair for poetic storytelling. Her dramatic and humorous, one woman productions and interpretations shines off the page, and onto the stage in interactive, educational entertainment performances, school assemblies, theater productions, festivals, corporate, social gatherings & community events.

Oni Lasana is a contributor to Literacy Development in the Storytelling Classroom Oni's "Brother Dunbar Performance Workshop" residency program is featured under "A Poetic Approach To Storytelling" as a aide for Performing Arts and school teachers.

Professor Nikki Giovanni at Virginia Tech is a prolific poet, author and hip hop activist who invited Oni to participate in the recording for her award winning audio book "Hip Hop Speaks to Children." Oni can be heard on "We Real Cool" by Gwendolyn Brooks and MLK, JR. "I Have A Dream" remake with Nikki & Val Gray Ward. Her solo "rap" on Paul Laurence Dunbar's, "We Wear The Mask" is a carry over from her Brother Dunbar Workshop Program.

Oni Lasana creates, directs, and performs with The West Chester Community Performers aka Drama Mama's! The Performers are a benevolent organization who for over 25 years have bestowed educational monetary scholarships to college students throughout Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Her short story "Rock & Roll At The Uptown Theater" was selected from hundred of applicants for the Benjamin Franklin Autobiography Project. One of 20 autobiographical accounts that were posted at bus stops throughout Philadelphia to encourage reading. The theme was on experiences as Philadelphians.
