This lively & exciting interactive singing, acting, laughing, audience participating storytelling experience is created especially for kids of all ages!
HOW DID GRANNY GOOSE GET LOOSE?
It was 1998 in Germany while touring the American(DoDD) Department of Defense, elementary and middle schools, Oni Lasana was "Doin' Dunbar! as 'Lias' Mother" when she overheard a little girl at Wuerzburg Elementary School whisper to her friend "Is she Mother Goose?" as Oni passed by on her way to the auditorium.
Oni answered "No sweetie..I'm Granny Goose, Mother Goose cousin!"
The little girl and her classmates were delighted!
In a lively stor'try (poetic storytelling) style, Oni presents Paul Laurence Dunbar's choral poems as GRANNY GOOSE in a exciting 30 minute program. It occured to Oni that younger children have no concept of Dunbar's plantation poetry. Dunbar's dialect poetry and folktales are about plantation life in America during the Civil War in America. However, he was also gifted in his dual mastery of english styles with his children's poetry. His poetry has been published in many modern books today, Oni can be heard rapping a Dunbar poem in HIP HOP SPEAKS TO CHILDREN on Sourcebooks, Inc.
Due to popular demand, Oni Lasana created this fun-filled, interactive and unique learning experience in poetic storytelling, especially for the little ones.
DOWN ON THE FARM WITH GRANNY GOOSE introduces Paul Dunbar's choral poems that allows for a repetitive "call and response" telling which draws the children into the story as young thespians. Youth participate by acting, mime and rap/singing with Granny!
Imagination is our guide, as we are down on the farm...right next door to "Old MacDonald" and around the corner from Mother Goose's "cousin," Granny Goose.
We catch a duck in THE CAPTURE...prepare for the winter season in "WINTER'S APPROACH," rapsing to "I don't think I like the sandman" from THE SANDMAN and JOHNNY SPEAKS...to planting our garden of love as we mime THE SEEDLING together!

WHAT CHILDREN SAY ABOUT GRANNY!
My 1st grade friend, Corey of Mark Twain Elementary School in Heidelberg, Germany wrote in his love letter to Granny Goose, "Thank you so much for coming to my school to tell us stories! You were great! My favorite story was the duck story, you told the story so well I could picture them in my head with my eyes open."
BACK HOME IN AMERICA...
Granny Goose visited Solis-Cohen Elementary School in Philadelphia & from many other schools where 2nd and 3rd grade students wrote letters about Granny's visit.
I learned alot of stuff from you. Thank you for making my imagination grow because I had never used my imagination before. Thank you for teaching me alot of things about the farm."Catlin
"I liked the program because the acts we did and when we had to help Granny Goose catch the duck and hunt the bunny rabbit. I like the poetry too because it was great poetry" Meaghan
"You are so nice. You are good at telling stories. When I grow up maybe I will be a storyteller like you. You are good at making children laugh. I hope you have a great day. I would like to hear some more stories. You are such a nice person."

"I thought that the program was very good because of the excellent poetry. When you
speak poetry you use your imagination. You did very well at that, I loved all of the poetry. I had a lot of fun acting the part of the dog." Sincerely, Mike
Now ya can't argue with those critics!
