ALWAYS FREE!
A Juneteenth Celebration!

Oni Lasana's latest offering of Dunbar's poetry is set against the background of Juneteenth, a day of liberation and the end of slavery in the United States of America. A time for celebration..."ALWAYS FREE" takes you back to the despair and exhilaration of the "surrender."

Presenting Dunbar's most beloved prose,"Always Free" offers a rousing humorous interpretation of "THE PARTY"...to the touching pathos of "WHEN DEY 'LISTED COLORED SOLDIERS." This unique performance also offers a finale where the audience participates in a rap version of Dunbar's most well known poem of freedom, SYMPATHY aka "I know why the caged bird sings."

ALWAYS FREE...includes many other touching poems offered from Oni as "'Lias' Mother." Physically free on Juneteenth, in spite of being enslaved, she knew that deep within her soul, she was always free in her heart and mind. From Dunbar's treasure chest of poetry, she shares memories of plantation life about family and friends.

ALWAYS FREE, focuses on the value of reading and is for all groups and ages. It is a timely message suitable any time of year, for a dynamic educational and entertaining performance of theater and music.

Contact Oni Lasana Productions today...and allow ALWAYS FREE...to bless the stage with an unforgettable living history experience for your next community, classroom, library or organization's special event!
