In Memory of Shawn Gipson
Shawn was a member of Boy Scout Troop 518. Shawn's Eagle Scout Project was done in Tyler Memorial Hospital. There, Shawn organized and did blood pressure and cholesterol screenings. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout on March 22, 1992. April 21, 1974 - June 13, 1999
After graduating from Tunkhannock Area High School in 1992, Shawn attended Penn State University and the Arkansas Technical School. While at Arkansas Technical School he served as President of the Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship. Shawn was a member of the Mehoopany Baptist Church and the Shiloh Baptist Church of Arkansas.
Shawn lost his couragous fight against brain cancer on June 13, 1999. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Gayle Gipson; and his brother Kacey Gipson.
Boy Scout Troop 518, in memory of Shawn, has purchased an American Flag and plaque that was placed at the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council Building in Moosic, Pennsylvania. The purchase of this American flag and plaque were made possible by donations, made to Boy Scout Troop 518, in memory of Shawn. This American Flag flies proudly, twenty-four hours a day, in memory of our fellow Eagle Scout. Shawn will always soar with the Eagles of the Boy Scouts of America.
