The Middle Ear
The air in the ear canal
carries the sound to the eardrum (tympanic
membrane). The eardrum moves back and forth quickly and transfers the
vibrations to the three smallest bones in the body - the ossicles
- hammer (malleus),
anvil (incus), and
stirrup (stapes).
