Music turns up everywhere...on the tv screen, the radio, in our cars,on the computer, and even in the magazines we read. By constantly being subjected to anything over a long period of time, ideas and norms can arise and help us to form what we believe to be true.
Hi! My name is Jennifer Adams and I am a Creative Writing major with minors in Pyschology and Literature. This website is part of a assigned project for my human sexuality class. Since I am a huge fan of music, my website will cover sexuality in music using several examples by my favorate artists.
I am a Christian who listens to secular music. By posting this website. I am hoping to open the eyes of non-Christian listeners so that they can "hear" what is being said in the songs and figure out whether they do or don't agree with what is said. My eyes were opened to a lot of things while researching this project. It actually made me think about what I am putting inside my head on a regular basis.
I chose the 3 artists because not only do I know a lot about them, but I have access to many books and articles on the groups being such a big fan. I also chose these three artists because they are all, for the most part, popular to people my age.
I will also be rating individual songs and artists on a scale from 1-10. The scale being drawn from the following factors:
Overall sexual suggestion
Sexual inuendos that may or may not be apparant to the ears of the common listener
Sexual phrases or lyrics
Mood of music and it's own sexuality
Now check out the three artists chosen and see how their lyrics and group overal treats sexuality.

The Dave Matthews Band:Virginian Rock Sensation
