A special concert in memory of Tsar Nicholas II was recently held in the Alexander Palace at Tsarskoe Selo. More than two hundred guests assembled in the newly restored Semi-Circular Hall to listen to classics by such composers as Rachmaninoff, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, as well as Russian church music. Among the performers were the Sheremetievskiy Petersburg Chamber Choir, the famous violinist Maria Safaryants, and the cellist Sergei Slovachevsky.

Nicholas II was a great lover of music, one of the reasons why the concert was dedicated to his memory. The Alexander Palace was the last home of the monarch and his family. In August 1917, the royal family was sent into exile from this palace. The palace recently opened the former State Rooms after an extensive restoration.
