Topic: Alexander II

After the Russian Revolution, portraits and statues of the Romanovs disappeared from public. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, they have quietly been returning to their rightful places and thus acknowledging the contribution they made in Russia's history.
A portrait of Tsar Alexander II watches over a meeting between Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and British Prime Minister David Cameron in the Grand Kremlin Palace.
It is interesting to note, that during an interview with a Russian magazine last year, Medvedev said that he admired the last Russian tsar, Nicholas II. A portrait of the last tsar now hangs in the office of the current Russian president.
