The Villa Elena Club Hotel has reopened its doors after an extensive restoration making it the first 5-star hotel in Yalta.
The history of the hotel dates back to 1912, when Yalta was being developed as a fashionable resort, becoming a favourite with Russian and European aristocrats.
Villa Elena – considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the Crimea was the highest building in Yalta and included its own park.
Designed by the architect Shapovalov in 1908, the mansion, was built for Tikhomirov, a rich Moscow merchant, as a dowry for his beloved daughter Elena.
After the Revolution, the hotel housed a health institution, and a sanitorium in the 1940s.
