This is The End

~A final continuation to "The Returning" by Danielle a.k.a Drugal197@aol.com

Disclaimer I do not own the characters of Spike and Drusilla or any other Buffy character, they belong to Joss Whedon, The WB and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm only responsible for the ideas in this story. The other characters metioned are not real and do not represent anyone.

Buffy held the stake to Dru's heart. She hadn't staked her but was getting ready to. "Please Buffy, take me instead..let Ducks go" Spike pleaded. Buffy hadn't seen this side of Spike, he actually cared for Dru, perhaps he even loved her. (I feel bad for him....no I have to do what I have to do) Spike got up, he had to attack her, that's the only way Dru would live. In an almost slow motion state, Spike walked towards Buffy. Buffy couldn't let Dru live. She slammed the stake into Drusilla's chest. "Spike" Dru cried. Spike ran to her. There was a look of sadness in her eyes, worse than he had ever seen before. He touched her hand, he looked into her eyes and then she turned into dust. "Dru" Spike screamed as tears streamed from his eyes. "You!!!!" Spike screamed at Buffy, "I'm going to bloody kill you". Spike couldn't think. He lunged towards her but was stopped by her hand. Buffy grabbed him by the throat. Spike couldn't move. His weakened emotional state made it impossible to fight Buffy. "So what are you going to do now, stake me?? You'll be doing me a bloody favor" said Spike. She clenched on his neck harder. Suddenly, she released the grip. "I'm going to let you go, maybe you'll spend the rest of your undead life mourning. I want you to know what it feels like to live knowing you've lost the only love you've ever know, like I do everyday, because of you, the vampires who take and ruin lives." Buffy said. She let Spike go. He couldn't fight her now, his mind was all jumbled. He ran out of the bronze. He didn't know where to go, but he had to get out of Sunnydale.

-----------------------------------

"So Drusilla is dead , I presume" Giles said to Buffy. They were in her house just a half hour after everything had occured. She nodded her head to his question. "And Spike is dead as well?" Giles asked. She shook her head. "Why not?? He got away??" asked Giles. "I--I, I let him go" Buffy replied. "You did what?" Giles said in disbelief. "You're the slayer Buffy, you don't let vampires 'go'" said Giles. "I had to, I had to make him understand what agony vampires cause" Buffy replied. "He lost Drusilla, his love, soul or no soul, he loved her. Now he'll live hundred of years worth of what I've lived thru with Angel" said Buffy. "Very well then" Giles replied. He didn't know if he could argue with her, what was done was done and it was too late anyway. Giles exited the room. Buffy sat and looked out the window. She wondered where Spike was right now. Was he crying for Drusilla the way she cried for Angel every night??

-------------------------------

Spike drove and drove for hours. His body was shaking, his hair was a mess. He didn't know what to do. He stopped at the red light. He looked over at "Dru's seat". There laid Miss Edith, Dru's trusty companion. He picked the doll up and looked at it. (Dru loved this bloody doll, she told it everything. Ducks....) Spike felt tears dripping from his eyes. (A world without Dru is no world at all..) He placed Miss Edith back in Dru's seat. Spike felt the anger rush towards his thoughts. He had to avenge her death. The world was empty without Drusilla, he was empty without Drusilla, his pet. He would have to return to Sunnydale when he was more prepared. He wouldn't give up until either him or the slayer died. That was the only way. And on that night whatever traces of his soul died along with his beloved Drusilla.

THE END
