THOSE TOUGH QUESTIONS

This page was created with the assistance of Laurie,
a dear friend.

At times, when we are sought out by fellows in the Lord, either family or friends, we run up against some pretty tough questions.
They might ask,"Why would God allow this?" or "How long must I suffer?" We all try our best to say just the right thing and often times leave that other person dependent on us for comfort and strength.. Yes, to a point we are responsible for our brothers and sisters in the Lord, but if we do not point them to Jesus, we are failing them. So, I have done some research and collected some priceless biblical answers and solutions that can not only be used to help others, but also ourselves.

WHY CAN'T I PULL MYSELF OUT OF THIS?

Phil.4: 13-"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" That is the key. We can do nothing of ourselves. The harder we try to pull ourselves out of things, the more we battle against God's leading in our lives. We have to give it all over to His capable hands. We must learn that we can do nothing under our own power.

WHY CAN'T I BE HEALED LIKE EVERYONE ELSE SAYS THEY HAVE BEEN?
Psalm 37:5-"Commit thy way unto the Lord and He shall bring it to pass." You have to remember that those people who say they have been there and done that....have been there and done that! They have gone through those same frustrations and doubts. They too looked around and saw answered pray in others and wondered why it wouldn't come for them. They too have had to take that leap of faith and commit it to God and learn to trust in His timing and will. We must also know that healing is not necessarily part of the plan.

WHY DOES GOD ALLOW SUFFERING?
I Peter 1:7-"That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perisheth, though it be tried by fire might be found worthy unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." We have to remember that suffering entered the world with sin. There was no suffering before the fall; therefore it is a consequence of sin. But also, most times, God works through affliction.

WHAT IF THIS NEVER ENDS?
We are told in Ecc.3 that there is a season for all things, so seasons of suffering do end. They come and go and come again. Instead of anticipating it's departure, we must look for the hidden lessons and blessings there. We must also concentrate on our testimony during the suffering.
Hebrews 11:1-"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
It would be a great benefit to read that entire chapter in Hebrews. Feeling hope is not always obtainable. This is where faith comes in. Faith, many times is a choice, not a feeling. We can't measure our spiritual life by feelings. Much of our walk with God depends on, and demands choices.

WHY DO PEOPLE DISLIKE ME BECAUSE OF MY STORY?
When we refer to"story" here, we are discussing burdens that tend to be taboo amongst Christians. This would include any type of abuse and abuse recovery. It's easy to say,"Give it over to God," and expect someone to do it. But, it is, at times, not that easy to do it. The on-looker must remember that it is God's timing, not ours. And, the person struggling should realize that some people aren't going to understand. Some are just uncomfortable with those issues for whatever reason. But there is someone who does understand!
Joshua 1:9-"have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord God is with thee wherever you are."
But also you must remember that in counseling another when they are amidst a trial, the onlooker comes to a point when they can only point to the cross for hope. That special friend can't become a person's strength, and this is something we often fall into-turning to a person instead of God, and maybe that is why one is held in that trial for a bit. Our Heavenly Father wants us to rest in Him. This IS the peace that passeth all understanding..Is.26:3-"Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee"........
