History of Day Of Wrath

Day Of Wrath was formed in late May of 1998 by 3 friends who pursued different things but found themselves united once more. The original line-up included Tempest, Jonas, and Dog Boy (fortunately these are only stage names and not the names given to them by their parents). Tempest and Dog Boy had jam sessions when they first met. Tempest and Dog Boy went their seperate ways so that Dog Boy could work with a punk band and Tempest could do a project called Nocturnal Force.

Tempest worked with Jonas on the project. Jonas was the vocalist and Tempest was the guitarist. The project was recorded and produced by Doug Klinger, a friend of Jonas from when he was a roadie for local bands in which Doug performed in.

After the Nocturnal Force project, Tempest worked with Danny Kirchdoerfer to form a thrash/goth band called Vivisection, while Jonas took a short break from music. Vivisection was slowly turning into a black metal band and Tempest was slowly losing his faith and turning his attention to the things of the world. Tempest didn't stay with Danny to long after things started to get going.

11 months later, Tempest came out of his world of darkness and depression. Feeling he was at the end of his rope, he started to work with music again trying to do what he was born to do. He started an acoustic rock band with a guitarist that went to the same church that Tempest once attended. Jonas had recently gotten back from Rhode Island and joined as the bass player. While in Vivisection, Tempest was only the vocalist, but with his new band, Silent Prayer, he had picked up the guitar once more as well as assuming vocal duties. Jonas had never played bass before but he had picked it up in one practice. Tempest then recruited a friend of his from high school to play drums for them. Things were going well for awhile, but Tempest and Jonas soon got frustrated with the band's self appointed manager and the spiritual direction of the band. Plus, they missed the heavy metal they once played before.

Tempest and Jonas soon left and went in search of a drummer. Dog Boy had come home from college for spring break and they discussed forming a band together. In May of 1998, Dog Boy returned home and the three of them started rockin' for Christ. They recently hooked up with a new guitarist from the local area. His name is Lycon. Together, they strive towards expanding the kingdom of God, using His gift of rock n' roll.

The name Day of Wrath came from a Believer song called Dies Irae. The band heard that song and fell in love with it. As for the future of Day of Wrath......only God knows. But I'm sure they will achieve all their goals as long as they put their faith in Him and lead people to Jesus, the King who loved us enough to die for our sins.
