lost myself in the twinkle of your eye
forever lost i’d like to stay
a heart is heavy but I don’t see why
forever on i’ll continue to pay
the head is thick on those who reprove
walking acting so sorrowfully
but the head simply refuses to move
can forgiveness ever be achieved

leave my past where i’ve been
let’s not travel that land
struggling to keep the place i’m in
come and take my hand

i’ve earned the mistrust of all
innocent I am far from
but in the same hole I will not fall
mistakes all it takes is one
with strength-filled wings moving beyond
convincing the world of my wings is burdensome
false and fragile they perceive my aileron
striving to prove everyone wrong

leave my past where i’ve been
let’s not travel that land
struggling to keep the place i’m in
come and take my hand

for forgiveness I continue to plead
a warm thought from deep within
on your face I yearn to read
carrying an unforgettable sin
wishing all would forget everything
through my fingers the feelings pour
unable to make sense of anything
thoughts on life from the cellar floor

leave my past where i’ve been
let’s not travel that land
struggling to keep the place i’m in
come and take my hand

on the side
this poem is my way of pleading for the world to forgive and forget. it's amazing how "6 seconds of defeat" can lead to "6 years of agony" when forgiveness is never achieved.

this is also currently my favorite poem.
