Seven & the Sun/Blessid Union of Souls
Topic: Music
Do yall remember a band called Seven & the Sun? They had a Top 40 hit back in the summer of '02 called "Walk with Me." What about Blessid Union of Souls?

A Black Version of "The Bachelor/ette"?
Topic: Reality TV
I was just wondering if there would b an African-American version of "The Bachelor" or "The Bachelorette." You know, where a black man or woman gets to decide out of twenty-five suitors or ladies-in-waiting and stuff. Just a thought.

The Fourth Poste
Good evening, yall! I am currently watching some Portuguese-language music video on Channel 49, KNXT-TV, which is a Catholic station. The video sucks. I think there's a significant Portuguese population in the Visalia/Fresno area. The performer is Chico Avila. That's all.

Topic: Personal
Greetings to all who have visited my blog! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Keith Pangilinan. As you can tell from the last name, I am Filipino-American, and thus have had to put up with non-Filipinos screwing up such a name. Funny thing, though. I have not learned my native tongue, which is Tagalog. I was born in Westwood, NJ, where plenty of my relatives are, then when I was little my folks moved to a suburb of Detroit, and then we spent the rest of our lives here in Bakersfield, CA. My Dad, Florencio, is a doctor and my Mom, Nenette, is a nurse. I am the oldest of four children (b. 8/8/78). I have two sisters & a brother: Jasmyn (3/3/80), Alain (9/16/84), and Anna (2/2/92). (Incidentally, you can view Anna's own website at this address here: http://members.lycos.co.uk/barcoccumusb/) I attended Bakersfield High School from 1992 to 1996. Then I went to Chapman University in Orange County (1996), Bakersfield College (1997-2000), and Cal State Northridge (2000-2001). During those years I majored in business administration and I had trouble keeping my grades up. Currently I have returned to Bakersfield College where now I'm trying to earn an Associate's in Accounting, and I have also been admitted to Cal State Bakersfield (a short twelve-minute bike ride from my house), where I'm trying to earn a teaching certificate. My favourite activities are bicycling, shooting hoops, working on my website, writing, and drawing. I like watching baseball, football, basketball, & hockey. Basketball is my favourite sport, which I can attribute to my ethnic upbringing; Filipinos happen to be fond of basketball, maybe of only the NBA kind. I actually took on a significant interest in the NHL because of the video game "EA Sports NHL 2003," and thus recognize many of the European hockey players such as Mats Sundin, Zdeno Chara, Marian Gaborik, Olaf Kolzig, etc. And through football and coll. basketball, specifically through CBS Sports, I then became a fan and admirer of perhaps the prettiest and savviest sports reporter I've ever seen, Bonnie Bernstein. I love listening to music. I still remember hearing Phil Collins' "That's All" and Madonna's first hit, "Holiday," back when I was about three to five. Around March 1987, I discovered "Rick Dees & the Weekly Top 40," when I heard "Stop" by Luther Vandross at #15, I think, and I was interested to see which songs were better, or just ranked higher. I had to know what was #1. I learned in an hour and a half that the #1 song was "At This Moment" by Billy Vera & the Beaters. With a small collection of audiocassettes, I chose to record broadcasts of Rick Dees from then on. Through that, I can remember that hits from the late eighties were "Will You Still Love Me" by Chicago, "Lean on Me" by Club Nouveau, "Open Your Heart" by Madonna, "Pump Up the Volume," by M.A.R.R.S., etc. I then came across "American Top 40," which was originally hosted by Casey Kasem, but I heard Shadoe Stevens at that time. Then Casey was hosting the show again. My parents didn't like the fact that I taped Rick Dees all the time, saying it was an addiction. Well, better than drugs I guess. I think I was just fascinated by hearing which songs were ranked in the Top 40. And through this, I took greater interest in music, although playing music wasn't my strongest interest. As I'm currently listening to "Things Can Only Get Better" by Howard Jones for the ninety-ninth time, I think about the Windows Media Player playlist this song is in, and I understand that this playlist, Playlist Essex, has plenty of '80s songs. I love '80s songs 'cause it was the music I listened to from my boyhood. Granted, I only like specific '80s songs. KLLY-FM, an adult top 40 station, plays the same darn '80s songs like "(Don't You) Forget about Me" by Simple Minds and "Love Shack" by The B-52's; that's why I don't listen to that station on a regular basis. (Plus they play too much Sugar Ray and Sheryl Crow.) Well, I think I might have said enough on this post. I'll make more reflections on what I've heard on the radio later on.

Intro Entry, The
Mood:  cool

Hello, yall! Not countin' the "check" entry, this is my first entry in my very own blogg. Allow me 2 introduce myself. My name is Keith Pangilinan, but 'cause everybody always screws up my last name, I'd rather b just Keith or Keith P. Once I shake the "first-entry" jitters, I can feel more comfortable talkin' about y people can't get my last name right, along w/ other stuff. I'm also about 2 prepare a fansite to Bonnie Bernstein, a reporter for CBS Sports. I should ask a guy on a existin' Bonnie B. site for permission to use his images. NEways, thank you 4 visitin' my website & I'll b hard @ work in improvin' this thang!
