Want to know more about my breed?

The Abyssinian

Aby's are one of the best breeds for many reasons not only because of our wild appearance, but for our dynamic personality.

Appearance

Our fine fur comes in four different colours: ruddy (that's me), red, blue and fawn. Our medium length coat is ticked with alternating bands of colour, which gives us our wild look. For example, my base colour is a burnt orange shade and each hair is ticked with two or three bands of black.

Abys have rich golden or green eyes that are almond shaped and accentuated with dark mascara lines.  Our ears are large and alert so we can hear everything that goes on.

We have hard, muscular bodies and our legs are fine boned with small, oval paws. We look so graceful, but we have to power to jump the tallest bookcase.

Personality

We are not the type of cats that will just sit around. There is too much to do and see. We run up and down the hallway, scratch our posts, watch the water drip in the bathtub, and jump out at people when they walk past us. Because of our high intelligence, we have to be busy. We like to sit on shoulders and be with you when you are washing dishes, doing the laundry, or making the beds. We are an in-your-face cat.
