A tongue is such a wonderful thing
It can be used to talk, to kiss or sing
It allows us to communicate
And to carefully articulate
How we feel about the world
And how we want our lives to be
We can express emotions without words
By trading tongues in ecstasy
Though sometimes I resent this part
Of my own anatomy
Because it can easily break hearts
When used drunkenly
So I sawed off my tongue last night
So I would never speak again
Or taste another person's lips
Thought things would be much easier then
