The wide eyed girl lays awake
The wide eyed girl wipes her tears
The wide eyed girl hides her world
Tell Cozza what you thought of this poem or the site in general in the guestbook.
Wishing the world had a volume switch
From downstairs, insults trade
She’s the biggest mistake they ever made
Knows it’s her fault
Her rapid thoughts won’t slow nor halt
She’s afraid
She’s the biggest mistake they ever made
Wishes away the cold she feels
Downstairs, things get worse
Her mind forces itself to work in reverse
Back to the days when they smiled
When they had an angel, instead of “that child”
Now, everyday she lives hurts
Her mind forces itself to work in reverse
The next day at school she seems okay
As far as a teacher’s eye can see
She’s as happy as a little girl could be
But at home her demeanor changes
Her peace of mind freezes and rearranges
She packs her bags to flee
She’s as happy as a little girl could be
