W.S.O.A Meeting Nov 22, 2004

Members Present: Ohannes Younanian, Rick Gers, Larry Muench, Jason Clifford, Tim Ashcom, Miguel Caballero, Charles Burnett, Dale Thomas, Wade Thomaston, Jim Gallagher

 

The following items were discussed.

1) New recruits. The association needs more new referees to fill the gap left by leaving referees. The following officials are no longer in the area or will not be able to officiate.

Todd Clifford, Richard Roozen, Chris Graham, Kaleb Mercer, Daniel Roth, Jeff Miller, Lauren Davis.

The association welcomed Jim Gallagher, Tim Ashcom, Miguel Caballero, Jason Clifford and Charles Burnett as new recruits.

 

2) The following persons have been named assignor’s within WSOA.

  • Dale Thomas: Enterprise YMCA recreational league
  • Wade Thomaston: Dothan recreational league, DYSA tournaments, Fall High school season, Ashford and Headland recreational leagues.
  • Rick Gers: Spring High School season.
  • Ohannes Younanian:D1, D2 and LASL playdates

 

 

3) Referee availability was collected for the spring high school season

4) There was a discussion about supporting the Eufaula high school program. We have several volunteers who would like to support them

 

5) Method of officiating: The Diagonal system of control will be used as the main system. We will use the 3 whistle system when training new officials, by having the referee trainee be the center official with 2 experienced officials on the sides

 

6) Possible dates for certification/recert clinic

7) There was a discussion about invoicing high schools more than once a season. We will try and invoice the high schools at least twice a season. The referee pay will be $40 for a referee and $30 for Assistants. The association will use some of the travel pay to pay the $6 assignor’s fee per game as well as keep $1 per game for an associatin fee. The remaining travel pay will be distributed to the officials based on their officiating distance from their home city.

 

8) USSF referee pay: The USSF pay has not changed in more than 5 years. The following table will be used to pay USSF referees. ($5 for assignor’s fee)

  • U-10, U-11   ($18, $12, $12, Total = $47)
  • U-12         ($22, $15, $15, Total = $57)
  • U-13, U-14   ($25, $18, $18, Total = $66)
  • U-15, U-16   ($28, $20, $20, Total = $73)
  • U-17, U-18, U-19  ($30, $23, $23 Total = $81)

9) New web site: The board approved the acquisition of a web site. Ohannes Younanian will acquire and setup the web site.

10) Weekly meeting place and location: It was decided that the meetings will alternate between Dothan and Daleville.
