Welcome to the Washington State Dahlia Society! We offer a variety of activities, including: monthly meetings, tuber sales, and our Trial Garden. At our monthly meetings, we offer:
A shop where items such as WSDS aprons, WSDS shirts, WSDS catalogs of all kinds, and the all important pencils we use to mark our tubers are sold.
A timely lecture is given on how to care for your dahlias. Any questions are most welcome to help you learn the best way to grow, display, dig up, and store your dahlias.
Tuber, and sometimes plant, sales and auctions.
Coffee and refreshments.
Dahlia related games.
Our meetings are every third Monday of the month at 7:30 pm. The usual gathering place is at the Fircrest Community Center at 555 Contra Costa in Fircrest.
The Flea Market is located at the University of Puget Sound in the Field House. Cost is $1.00 to get in and there is much to see! Do stop by our booth, which will be upstairs, to purchase your tubers.
Puyallup Spring Fair
The Puyallup Spring Fair costs $6.50 for adult tickets if you purchase from Safeway. The Fair is located at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup. There is much in the way of gardening to see and purchase. We will be located in the barn straight across from the Blue Gate.
Master Gardners
The Master Gardners is located at the WSU extension in Puyallup. It's free to get in. There are a lot of plants to buy besides our tubers, so come on by.
Tubers are priced at $3.00 and $4.00, the latter price for special varieties. We are always at the above locations.
Trial Garden
Our Trial Garden is located in Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. WSDS is proud to sponsor and maintain this important Trial Garden. This is one of nine in the United States that is certified by the American Dahlia Society. If you are a grower with a new variety to show and are interested in growing it with our Trial Garden or are an accredited judge who would like to judge the dahlias please contact Marilyn Walton (tgdirector@hotmail.com). Come see what's growing from July to October when our dahlias are blooming!
