VETS VETS VETS

If there is one concept that Rabbit Haven by the Sea can't stress enough, it's the importance of finding a phenominal rabbit vet.  A common misconception is that all vets can properly handle small animals.   Rabbits and other small animals are considered exotic pets and require the care of a vet who specifically understands their body types.  It takes a lot of extra education and experience.  General vets that treat only cats and dogs on a daily basis will not be helpful to you in a serious situation with your bunny.   We guarantee you that they will not know what to tell you when your bunny gets sick and needs medical help.  We are currently comprising a list of vets in our own area that can assist you and your little one.  If you have a great one in your area, please let us know and we will add it to our list!  Even common surgery such as spaying or neutering needs to be done by a rabbit specialized vet.

OUR OWN VETS!

We absolutely love Dr. Dorothy Farr located in Englishtown.   Please check with them as I'm not sure they are taking on new patients at this time.

I can't say enough about my vet...Dr Marissa Sabia at Sea Girt Animal Hospital.  She has seen me through many trials and tribulations with my own buns as well as our fosters.  She is extremely easy to talk to, down to earth and she puts up with Enid (who did scratch her in the eye at one point and somehow still likes "the bean").   For those of you who know Enid...we all know she can try your patience.  They are currently taking on new rabbit patients.  The support staff is also amazing and I can't say enough great things about them.  She is also wonderful with other pets.  She was also wonderful about teaching me about rabbit care when I first started out and was completely clueless.

We have not met Dr. Doolan per say, however we know many people who rave about him.  Several of my adopters use him and love him.  He is very up to date with rabbit care.
