Who are we?

Rabbit Haven by the Sea rescues homeless rabbits from a variety of situations.  Before placing them into great adoptive homes, we spay/neuter, socialize and litter box train them.

Here you will find links to helpful rabbit information.  You will find pictures of our current adoptables and enjoy our stories.  We also provide info on proper bun diet, socialization and common health problems.  Find a local bun specialized vet.  Check out our book reviews.   Find a bunny babysitter.  We are far from done with this site and hope to have a lot more information soon.

How Do I adopt?

All Current adoptable buns are listed on Petfinder.com.  Most are in our rescue, some are in foster and some are from personal referrals (we provide pre-screening for those looking to adopt out their own pet).  We save the space we have however for small animals desparately in need.  Generally, unless there is space, we don't take in personal referrals and only serve as guidance while the animal remains in its original home.

Mature rabbits do not leave un-spayed or un-neutered unless prior vet appointments are scheduled through one of our recommended vets and we reserve the right to be a part of this procedure.  Fixed rabbits will come with documentation of their surgery.  If you would like to adopt and already have a rabbit, we will require proof of their spay/neuter.

Altered males are a 50.00 adoption fee.  Altered females are a 60.00 adoption fee (which is a real bargain for the adopter as some places charge up to 300.00 for a spay).  Rarely we have young baby buns, but in that case we negotiate an adoption fee depending on their medical costs and firmly implant a spay and neuter agreement and require that we recieve a spay/neuter cert at 6 months of age.

We also require vet info and require a reference from your vet.  If you are thinking of adopting please let your vet know we will be calling.  Through experience we have learned that not all vets are good with rabbits and can help refer you to a rabbit specialized vet.

We reserve the right to a home inspection.  We do not generally adopt out of state or long distance.  All rabbits adopted directly from RHBTS will go to indoor homes only and adult signatures are required on our papers (from the main caregivers home).
