Original Intro

Every time I watch the news, the madness and injustice of the owrld is immediately apparent. Yet it fails to sink in, if anything it desensitises you. And to begin to appreciate it doesn’t lead to a sense of sadness or anger, but of overwhelment.

It is not violent crimes or random acts of nature that result in endless pain that frighten me so much. I can accept that a minority of people are always going to be psychos and that disasters can happen. At least everyone else is agreed this is a bad thing.

What scares me

Politicians are either spineless or corrupt. Judges make their rulings based on race and social status. It’s quite possible to get half the people in the country believing lies. It’s easy. It might be the only ways wars ever started. People are quite willing to swallow anything you serve up to them. It’s about how you package it, right? Just look at Coca-Cola. People swallow any old rubbish.

I’m going to argue that the powerful maintain their undeserving hold on power by exploiting the channels of what people take as authority. This is really, really easy when a lot of people actually take politicians and the media, even tabloids, as authority figures. No, really. Think about what it implies. The powerful are authority figures because they are powerful, and because they are authority figures people will listen to what they say. And the powerful will use that authority to push ideas on people who will listen because they’re powerful that confirm the powerful’s right to be in their position and in the process marginalise everyone else. That’s going to be my whole argument.

How can it be that the president of America, the most powerful and therefore influential and important country in the world, also is one of the dumbest people in the world? How is it that Australia is represented by a man that reflects the lifestyle, attitudes, and interests of such a tiny proportion of the population?

It’s a serious question, HOW did this happen? Considering that these are both democratic countries, it is really hard to understand. Why would you vote for someone who was far less intelligent than yourself? Why would you vote for someone who sticks to his own little group of people and probably wouldn’t think much of you if he met you, to represent yourself and your country? Are these appropriate people to represent any country? Is there no one more open-minded and intelligent in the country willing to do the job?

It’s obvious that if this is the best the system can come up with, the system needs to be altered in some way. Just one example, by disallowing political parties to stand and only allowing individual representatives, ensuring every decision made by politicians is passed by a conscience vote not block voting.

Why is the system not challenged?

It’s easy to see why politicians don’t want it challenged since it has helped them, get to power. You’re not going to see the media challenge anything as long as politicians support the interests of the rich, since that’s who owns the media.

Why don’t ordinary people challenge it then?

I’ll come back and work on this soon in a few days...
