The Otway Fly - Treetop Walk
The Otway Fly

Given to Fly ...

I'd seen a brochure about the Fly when we were on our school conference at Lorne, and thought it looked like it would be fun.
When I suggested an outing to my sister, Anna, she was keen and we arranged a day. We took mum who is 87, and my brother, Mario as well. It took about 2.5 hours to get there from Melbourne. We went the short way, through Colac where we stopped for lunch and directions to the Fly since it wasn't marked on any of our maps. Armed with the right information, we had little trouble finding the place - the drive was wonderfully scenic. Everything is so much greener there - they have obviously had more rain than us.
We were allowed to drive straight down to the entrance, since mum has trouble walking. So Mario dropped us off, and then he returned to park the car. We waited for him and noticed how busy the place was - lots of families with kids - sigh - it IS the school holidays. Finally we got out tickets, and went through the turnstyle to the beginning of the track to the fly.

Going my way?

Since mum can't walk distances, we made use of the buggy service.
Here are Anna and mum waiting for a buggy ride to take
them down the track to the start of the fly.

Racing me

Mario and I went ahead along the track - about 15 minutes walk.
We got there first.

Ramps ahead

Here's the start of the fly walk.
