FORT PIERCE — Deputies arrested an Okeechobee Department of Corrections officer known as "Big Jack" in Fort Pierce Tuesday afternoon on charges of possessing marijuana to smuggle it into a correction facility.

A confidential informant told a Florida Department of Corrections inspector that "Big Jack" Frankie Lee Jackson was paid by inmates' family members to bring money and drugs to the Okeechobee Correctional Institute, according to reports.

Jackson, 31, of the 3300 block of 20th Street in Okeechobee, was arrested shortly before 1 p.m. at Cosmic Kiss, an adult entertainment store on Okeechobee Road.

The informant told police that some inmates, working together with their family members on the outside, arranged for money to be delivered to Jackson. He used the money provided by family members to purchase marijuana and powder cocaine, reports said.

Jackson agreed to meet with an undercover Florida Department of Law Enforcement special agent who provided him with a pound of marijuana and $1,200. Jackson was supposed to bring the pound of marijuana into the prison for $1,200.

Jackson was arrested in the Cosmic Kiss parking lot after the meeting and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and introduction of contraband/narcotics into a correction facility, reports state.

He was later released from the St. Lucie County Jail on $7,500 bond, according to a jail official.
