Can't these guys figure out that alcohol and steroids equates to trouble? When are they going to grow up?  Bradford deputies have arrested prison employees (more ballplayers) at George's bar (the only bar in Starke) for the second time this fall.  Kay Lee.

weekend fight at a bar frequented by prison workers ended with the arrests of four Florida State Prison employees and another man.

According to Bradford County Sheriff's Lt. W. H. "Bear" Bryan, the fight broke out at about the same time that a pair of deputies were conducting a routine check at George's, a bar on State Road 16.

Sgt. Ray White and Deputy Joe Jones reported seeing a large crowd when they pulled up at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday. Bryan said deputies had to use a Taser to shock two alleged participants to subdue them enough to handcuff them.

A third man was also arrested in connection with the fight. Those accused of participating in the fight were charged with affray (fighting in public).

As the deputies and bar owner were trying to disperse the crowd, two more men were arrested when they did not leave the area.

All of the charges were misdemeanors, Bryan said.

The prison employees arrested in connection with the fight were Sgt. Kevin Barfield, 37, of Middleburg, who was also charged with resisting arrest without violence after being shocked with a Taser; and Sgt. Robert John Bonsall, 35, of Lawtey.

The other man brought under control after being shocked with a Taser was identified as Robert Warren Craven, 30, of Starke.

The other two arrests were made as deputies worked with the bar's management to get people to leave the area after the fight had ended.

Joey A. Hill, 31, of Brooker, a senior classification officer, was charged with disorderly conduct and trespass after warning.

Edwin Lee Johnson, 29, of Raiford, a correctional officer, was also charged with trespass after warning and with resisting arrest without violence.

This is the second time this fall that Bradford County deputies have arrested prison employees at George's after using a Taser to subdue them.

On Oct. 1 at 12:15 a.m., correctional officer Christopher Eric Eddins, 33, of Macclenny, was charged with affray for a fight that reportedly began on the dance floor at George's.
