A hurried self portrait. As you can see, the trees are big. Ver-ry-ry-ry big. Note all the moss and vines. The ferns are called tree ferns and can grow quite large as well. This tree is inside the logging unit set to be felled any day now...

Here's a view from the top of the sit. A quite ingenious combo of plywood, metal tubing and lots of rope (over 2.5 kilometers they reckon) hold it all together. The Styx River Valley is right in the cleft below the corner of the yellow platform.

Here's what the forest is supposed to look like. Loads of moisture, ferns galore, and clear, clean water flowing copiously.
