Christian Education is an important doctrine of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Effort is made to provide quality education for the youth of New Jersey Conference at the most reasonable rate for the parents. Experience has shown that the combined efforts of parents, student, church, and conference generally will meet the financial challenges of the school year, but this does require a faith commitment and careful management of family resources. To help us with careful management of school funds to meet operating expenses, the following policies have been adopted: 1. Students owing an account to another Seventh-day Adventist school will not be admitted until the account has been paid or satisfactory arrangements have been made. 2. The account for the previous year's expenses at Garden State Academy must be paid before a student is permitted to re-enter for another school year. Delinquent accounts remaining from other members of the immediate family must also be paid before another member of the family is enrolled. 3. Students currently enrolled may be asked to withdraw from school due to sizable unpaid account. Special arrangement must be made if two monthly payments are past due. 4. The account must be settled or satisfactory arrangements made before a student may become a member of the graduating class and take part in graduation exercises. 5. Diplomas and Transcripts are not issued until the account is paid in full. |

Students are discouraged from keeping money in their rooms. The academy cannot be responsible for money left in a student's room or any place other than the bank account. Parents may send money directly to the business office or students may bring their money themselves. This money will be receipted to the student's bank account. Money will be disbursed only upon the signature of the student involved and the money will be deducted from their bank account.
Sufficient money for transportation, clothes and personal needs should be arranged for between the parents and student before the time such money is needed. It is unnecessary for students to have large amount of spending money. But, the student should have enough to purchase such items as stationary, stamps, soap, and other personal items and miscellaneous school supplies.
Diplomas or exam permits will not be issued unless the student's account is balance.
Basic charge refunds are in proportion to the number of days spent at school.

GARDEN STATE ACADEMY conducts a work-study program and all students are encouraged to be employed. Because of certain limitations, the school is unable to provide all students with jobs. The school will do its best to place students in a job that takes into consideration the interest, skill, talent, and training of the student, as well as the job availability and need of the school. If a job is available, the students are required to work. The current rate of pay to students is 85% of minimum wage. This rate will apply for all students working on-campus. Pay increases will be given according to school policy. Students who leave a job on their own and begin another on-campus job will begin at the starting pay scale for the new on-campus job. Students approved for a job transfer, begin the new job at the starting pay scale. The rate of pay for off-campus jobs depends on the company that hires the student and their policies. The earnings for all students will be applied to the student's account.
There are two objectives of the work program at GARDEN STATE ACADEMY. The first is to provide a program of training students in the disciplines of work. The second is to provide student with a way to earn part of his/her expenses. The school cannot provide transportation for students working off campus. The state required that all students have a work permit. Students will not be permitted to work in any area until this permit has been received. Students are not allowed to drop their work assignment without permission from the work supervisor and principal. Some students may be required to stay during a vacation because of the nature of their work and students should realize the value of their work and duty and should thus cooperate on this respect. On-campus or off-campus workers should understand that each area will have a schedule that must be met. Therefore, students will be expected to meet all work requirements. Weekend leaves and vacations will be alternated between student workers when necessary. It is also the student's responsibility to cover work assignments if the student has to be away on an emergency, school trip, etc. Please find a substitute to take your place.
Summer work is available only to those students accepted for the next school year. Room and board will be charged for those staying in the dormitories. Summer work applications are available upon request. Credit for summer work is to be applied to the following school year's bill at Garden State Academy. The student will be charged for his/her meals. Students will go home on the weekends. Other policies will be supplied to those working during the summer. Regular school rules apply. |
