A pretty belated update, and you're all fired.
|
Well, here's the rundown, I'll try and keep this message
as simple as possible. As the few people who actually maintained
contact with me allready know, I moved recently and found
myself without internet for quite a long time, as well as
a lovely virus that led to a format, making me lose all
my work on the site. There was an update placed before the
move, saying enough to hold you over for awhile, but that
was wiped through some well timed rollback by angelfire
I'd assume.
Anyways, the news is as follows:
For the past week and a half, I've been in the WoW stress
test beta, it's been a blast, and the game has met and surpassed
many of my expectations. It still has a very long way to
go, but even now, the game is quite enjoyable and entertaining.
It's also cool as hell, and tends to attract a crowd whenever
I play. And it runs surprisingly well on my machine, which
is a bit of a shock to me, as the graphics are excedingly
beautiful in this game.
Now, the real news:
I dont know what you guys are thinking, but I'm not really
impressed. The interest in this project has been less than
stelar. I'm not asking for people who badger me left right
and centre asking about updates and the clan and whatnot,
but I expect that if I dissapear off the face of the planet
for 3 months and log onto msn for a week straight, at least
one person would drop me a message. The emails are ok, but
I still expect you to use msn as our main means of communication.
I said right from the beginning this project starts and
ends with me, and right now im announcing this:
As of now, there is only me.
I will decide what to do with the clan as the time approaches
for closed beta. My main in closed beta will be an undead
warrior, on a pvp server, along with some people I met in
the stress test. The clan is not done and over, but ties
with all of you have been cut, I have no interest in people
who show no interest. I'm setting out to do something very
unique and powerful in the MMO community, I know I cant
do it alone, but now I also know I cannot do it with the
people I have. I'll just have to keep on scouting prospects
in game as I usually do.
As soon as there is an announcement about closed beta,
I'll make another announcement on the future of this project,
until then, do whatever. I've thought about this for awhile,
and it's clear to me that it's the only descision I have
left to make right now. I'm not here to hold your hand and
lead you to greatness, you need to pull your weight to get
anywhere in this world, even in fantasy.

Awesome times in RYL
|
|
Well, for those of you not following the story, the RYL
beta recently implemented their anti hack measures in game,
in preperation for open beta. And though there's still plenty
of hacked characters running around, it is one HELL of alot
of fun right now. Last night was especially fun, as I had
the rare opportunity to hunt in a purely Malasian group,
which I found operated a signifigantly higher level of play
than the normal, everyone knew their roles, everyone acted
accordingly and effeciently, I made 22-29.5 in about 2 hours
with them, and we werent even trying to get xp. With the
hacks gone, we took the time to explore the second and third
islands, decimating any humans we found in our wake (I play
humans as my main, but have a few demon accounts on the
side =P) . We eventually moved to the arena, and were shocked
to be assaulted by none other than sokme human GMs =) We
fought for a little while, doing large scale group combat,
with skills and spells and swords flying every which way,
then took the time to sit around with the GMs and chat a
little bit and show off some level 4 spells and skills,
which looked amazing, needless to say. Fighting the GMs
was the fun part though, it gave me a good idea of what
to expect from high level characters
|
|
Needless to say, it was a ton of fun, and my rune off (Spectra)
made a few thousand fame in one day =) I also leared from
the GMs that the king of RYL package contains a RYL cd,
2 account IDs and PWs, and a number you can use in game
to get 500k in gold, which is pretty decent starter money,
and makes it unessicairy to do the quests, unless they add
more by then, which is unlikely. Near as I could tell, I
was the only North American character there (at least in
our little group around the gms), so this is pretty good
information =)
And FYI, mages get utterly destroyed at high or even mid
level, and levelling is going to be super easy, knowing
what I learned last night. Anyways, I certainly hope to
hear from you guys before open beta, if not, expect to see
me in the high rankings with a bunch of people with crazy
alphanumeric names =)

Ton of RYL news
|
Well in the past few days we've seen a shitstorm of new
devellopments happen with RYL, all of which are kind of
sketchy, but definately good news. Planetwidegames
has apparently stepped up to the plate and taken the north
american distribution rights for RYL. This means we'll soon
have a dedicated, english speaking staff develloping a north
american version of RYL. On their main website you can find
a variety of new screenshots, including some preliminary
screenshots of what appears to be a large indoor environment,
so perhaps we can expect to see dungeons sooner in the North
American release.
Also, for the Taiwan version or ryl, they recently released
a new client, with a radical new interface, and much more
of a sexy look. You can see screenshots
on a french
fansite forum.
Edit: Oh yeah, and The RYL
Ultimate Guidebook continues to be updated. It's in
alpha version 0.12 as of this message.
|
Well, I'm back home again. I wrote a working outline to
my guide while I was back in Toronto over the weakend, for
those that are impatient, you can check it's progress here.
I just transferred what I wrote over to html, and soon as
the new client downloads, I'll be adding images and slowly
adding detailled sections over the next few days.
I've also added a headlines area, which should make navigating
important news items alot easier.
|
RYL is now offering more beta ids for phase 3, APPLY NOW!!!
It's first come first serve, you can grab more than one
acocunt, but dont be too greedy, everyone needs a chance
to play this game =P

Good news from a reliable source in the WoW beta just keeps
on coming in. Apparently the devs are very active in listening
to the community, and implementing changes as nessicairy.
There has also been a rumour as to a pvp test server opening
in the not too distant future, so there should be some news
on that soon. As expected though, there are no collision
physics in place, but dont be too bummed, as there is the
possibility of this changing in future releases, if not
simply for pvp combat (which is the only place it's really
needed anyways)
|
Heard some really good things about WoW today, I thought
it was worth mentioning =P Though still everyone has been
unanimous in saying that the pvp blows goats.

New! 4/4/2004 -Important
News
|
Due to poular demand, it's an update!
Truthfully, there havent been too many devellopments, since
nothing has really changed since the last update. But this
is the first time I've been asked for an update, and I cant
dissapoint.
RYL has been
taking up a decent amount of my time lately, though I think
it is time well spent. Recently they announced their open
beta contest, which looks very intersting to say the
least.
Anyways, I've allready talked to some of you, who seem
quite interested at the idea. If nothing else, this will
give all of us a chance to play together at our full potential
for at least 4 months for free, and if all goes well, we're
looking at a year of free gameplay, and that's just if we
qualify and lose. RYL just plain rocks so far, I have never
played a mmo with this much involvement. My only worry is
that they will change the class balances to accomodate pvm,
that would be a fatal mistake. Not to mention a very common
one with mmos nowadays, they always attack the issue from
the worst possible angle, creating more issues, and snowballing
indefinately until you're left with a game that doesnt even
resemble the original product. (AC players can relate the
best to this one)
Anyways, I have some things planned to help us out, it's
become quite clear to me lately that my knowledge of mmos
gives me a massive advantage over the average player, and
I'd be happy to share this with everyone in the group, with
detailled levelling guides, skill guides, quest guides,
the likes of which you've never seen. Currently, this information
does not exist on any major website.
The main part of all of this is participation, I know we
have a couple "core" members, that always sem
to be online and eager to help the cause, but we really
need the underdogs showing some participation now too, I
dont ask for much time, just some on a routine basis. For
now though, all I ask is that you message me on msn or email
me as soon as possible with your intentions, and if
you are interested in this RYL contest, which is also a
test for our group. What we see in the RYL open beta could
be what makes our name (or lack thereof) known to the world,
we need to represent, and I know I have the means, I just
need the people now.
So, who is with me? Who's going to stand up and be seen?
Who wants to make our presence known?
I know I do.
Email me
or message me, even if you arent a part of the group, we
are still taking members.
Oh yeah, and if you do happen to be in RYL, you can reach
me as Ripshaft, Macrophage, Holocaust, or Hellbourne (all
human). Depending on interst, I may open a RYL branch of
the website before open beta.
The names page has also been updated
as usual, there's some interesting additions.
|
So, RYL seems
to have struck a deal with engrish.com,
and are now working to create only the finest in engrish
products.
Edit: Well originally was going to put a funny pic up,
but figure the nda is written in engrish too, and cant make
heads or tails of what I am allowed to do.... Err, that
is to say, if I was in beta... and if I was in beta, I would
probably have a character named "Ripshaft", and
would be happy to hunt with anyone else who happened to
get in =P So message me... that is, if i was in beta...
*grins*
|
Well, with the beta live, there's a ton of new information
to sort through. So I'll be holding off on a few updates
I had in the works, in favor of a massive update in a little
while. Now, in the meantime, I recently had a new title
(well, to me, it's been running in china for awhile apparently,
so it's stable), Risk Your
Life, revealed to me by some friends I used to play
with on Darktide. This is unusual, as no mmorpg has ever
compared to AC yet, so they must be hyped about this game
if it came up in discussion. After looking through all the
available video, I agree it's worth a look, and suggest
you check it out:
You can sign up here
and here.
|
Well, needless to say, things have been slow lately, as
we wait on further information from blizzard, and continue
to work on finding a name for our
group. I've been a little busy lately, what with this stomach
flu from hell going around and all. Aside from that, I have
been working on making a page dedicated to explaining out
somewhat complicated heirarchy system, with mixed results,
the page should be up soon enough, regardless.
|
The sexification continues, with a new nav bar at the top
of the page.
On another note, had the chance to talk to a group of you
online today, and we managed to make some great progress
on the name issue. To keep everyone up to date on our name,
you can check out the name page.
Over the next few days, expect a variety of new pages to
pop up, and many improvements to existing ones. I hope to
see more of you online on msn more, so we can have more
productive, spontaneous group chats.
The names page is of course still very early in devellopment,
please bear with us as it is improved over time.
|
3/1/2004 - Superficial
site improvements..
|
Figured the site could use some help, so I took some time
to sexify it a little, hope you like it.
|
2/24/2004 - UT2004, order style.
|
For those of you not playing the UT2004 demo, you might
want to head over to www.unrealtournament.com
and download it now. The game is far improved over 2003,
and shows signs of coming closer to the original UT in terms
of gameplay.
Anyways, download the demo and lets have a game, message me
on msn if you're interested. |
Somewhat underattended chat 2/19/2004
|
Well, it seems that the last chat was almost completely
overlooked, despite rsvps. It seems some are more enthusiastic
about the idea than others. For this, I salute you. However,
for those not coming to the chats, I offer you this early
warning that the timeline is getting more strict, and failure
to attempt to attend scheduled meetings or make your views
known to me on msn will result in your being left out of
many important descicion making processes. The last chat
hardly even merits a chat log, though one will be available
to members upon request.
|
Group Chats (Week of Febuary 8th)

There will be a series of group chats held over the next
week or so, here is the latest information:

New
2/10/2004 ! Found a word that works! |
The word is now "Order".
This actually seems to be the Order's descision, since it's
what justabout everyone preferred to use in their emails to
me. |
New
2/3/2004 ! Page is now somewhat Improved! |
Well, just didnt feel right
putting this link in my signature, and people, expecting me
to have a site to represent my group, come here are are sorely
dissapointed. Well, I said enough of that, and decided to
throw together something a bit better. To be included with
this update is the new FAQ section,
and further posts I have made about the clan. (still cant
find a better word...) |
If you're here, you've
clicked my shameless plug, thanks!
-Note This page only exists now to provide easy access to
the original and modified clan posting, this is NOT THE ALLEIGANCE
WEBSITE - trust me, when that gets up, it will be much much
sexier.
This is mainly just a copy of this
post. |
Well ok, now that I've
started updating the style of the page, I'm going to have
to go balls out, and make it more useful. Expect to see this
page updated regularily, i.e. every few hours, over the next
little while. |
New
2/3/2004 ! Page is now somewhat Improved! |
Well, might as well first start out
with a little bit about myself. Since wayyyy back in the 10six
closed alpha-beta (Goddamn that was fun), before MMORPGs even
had a name, I've been playing MMORPGs as my core gaming experience.
I've played from every angle imaginable - In 10six, me and
a few friends always held the most powerful titles [respect
due to BFMAFIA for being our only equal adversaries and sometimes
allies]. In AC (darktide, naturally [free-for-all pvp server,
for those not in the loop]) I first tried fending for myself,
grabbing the occasional vassal, then moved onto making a large
monarchy, which fell apart, simply because I wanted to make
something great, when most people being signed on by the lower
ranks were only there the screw around and have a good time
without giving a damn about the monarchy's stance or alleigances.
This is a problem every large monarchy on Darktide has, even
now. So, I decided to cut off and just leave the lil bastards
on their own (They later became a large part of TOA, then
Blood - go figure). With me came all the people I could trust
and rely on from the old monarchy, and we made a new one,
a small monarchy made up of nothing but the best people I
knew when it came to fighting skill and just being good people
to be around. Unfortunately, the way AC's heirarchy works,
there's no way for a small monarchy to survive, unless you
first level up to obscene heights under another name then
move on over to your own synthetic monarchy (ps, you people
that do that suck balls). So, even knowing we'd never really
level up high enough to deal much damage, we were commited,
and our little band of renegades continued to persevere for
4 years (kicking some high level ass, might I add =P), until
everyone eventually quit the game, since it became kinda crap
after awhile, due to high level pressures on the dev team.
So, what the hell does this all mean?
Not too much, but it's important to know where I'm coming
from, since I'm not screwing around with this idea, I'm dead
serious. I want to create a closely knit, elite (in the literal
sence, you will never hear me using l33t4rd speak), yet large
group, dedicated to being the best they can be, and having
a damn good time doing it. Much like my old AC group, we will
be a group that follows true integrity, not a hollow doctrine.
We are not a PK or ANTI group, we are not good or evil, we
will do as we please, and when we please. We will use anything
and perhaps everything within the game's abilities, unless
otherwise instructed by blizzard or myself.
The guild will be as organised as possible, I want everyone
to feel they're important to the whole, because they are -
even the lowest echelons will fight along side the top ranking
officers, on the same field, no more or less, except by title
and responsibility. We will use a miliraristic heirarchy,
with the group most likely starting with only the bare bones
heirarchy (commander-subordinate relationships, 1 to 2, branching
indefinately), then growing dynamically from there, since
it's pretty naive to think I'll find enough people who are
right for the job right away. It will not take a large amount
of people to make this happen, and once the structure is made,
it can expand indefinately, and become massive if nessicairy,
yet still maintaining the level of quality I set out to achieve.
Now, you either havent read this far, or are wondering what
the hell im talking about, or wondering why im not listing
a web page or name or whatnot. The reason? There are none,
the group does not exist yet - simply because this isnt like
any other, I'm not going to grab people off the streets and
boards like the other gomers here. I have no way to judge
your character or potential value to the group yet. So basically
what I propose is this, anyone who finds interest in this
idea can email me at NeoRipshaft@hotmail.com, mabye leaving
a little bit about yourself, and your MSN name email, along
with any other contact info you want. I will contact you and
everyone else through msn, and then with enough people showing
interest, we will all meet up in irc and discuss the finer
details of the group.
So then, now you have all you need to start. If you have any
further questions or comments, good or bad, do not hesitate
to email me at my contact address (NeoRipshaft@hotmail.com).
This isnt for everyone, but for anyone who's played MMORPGS
before, and cant swallow the tripe the others are offering,
this is the place for you. note: having played a mmorpg before
is not a prerequisite - We're looking for a certain kind of
person, not just a certain kind of gamer.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Ripshaft
PS: For the record, my name is Ripshaft, always has been since
I was about 6, just sometimes it doesnt pass through language
filters, yet for some idiotic reason, NeoRipshaft does. oh
yeah, and Neo Ripshaft tends to be my secondary character's
name.
PSS Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention it above, I've actually
played many many many more MMORPGS than just AC(4 years) and
10six(1ish years I think), however after playing those two,
the others just seem like visual chat rooms. Anyone who's
played either would know this. I've played 10six, AO, AC,
AC2, DAOC, EQ, NeoCron, Planetside, Planeshift, Shattered
Galaxy, UO... hrm I'm sure there's plenty more, just none
I can think of right now. Most of them were only for about
a month before I was sent reeling in pain back from the screen
clutching my face and crying for the time I'd lost playing.
Slight exaggeration, but you get the idea =) |
Added
2/3/2004 6:32:04 PM EST |
I've actually been develloping
the idea and mechanics for this group for years now, about
3 to be exact. I've gone over every miniscule detail, trying
to stop out potential bugs, while doing my best to keep the
group dynamic, so we can always do what we want, and never
be limited by the heirarchy or even by the game restrictions.
I didnt want to get too much into it on the boards, since
I'm sure people are going to rip off my ideas, or claim they
came up with them first, but what the hell, better give a
little bit of info. Within the main grouping, those "sworn"
directly under myself, there will be a series of specialized
groupings, based on what each person's speciality is. There
will be raiding leader, defence leader, internal affairs leader,
questing leader, hunting leader, as well as various dummy
members (little to no responsibility, but high standing),
who will head up numerous councils if nessicairy, to handle
any need that should arrise in game, such as politics, finances
and so on. The idea is to keep things as simple as possible,
while allowing us to get complex as time goes on. Basically,
at any point in game, anyone in the alleigance/whatever can
call ONE SINGLE PERSON to handle ANY situation. With an organized
website using modern heirarchy management tools that we've
seen devellop from previous MMORPGS, it will be no problem
to figure out who that person is within a few clicks, even
though after a week in the group you will no doubt know who's
who. |
