'Toe The Nip' - Bryan Albrecht

Welcome to Buccaneers On Deck, the official website of the New Port Richey Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers were an adult baseball team in the former Pinellas National Adult Baseball Association(NABA). All of our players were alumni of Gulf, River Ridge, and Mitchell High Schools in New Port Richey, FL.

We played the Rays again and once again they beat us late. Ryan Richards pitched a beautiful 5 innings. He left with a 2-1 lead, but then the walks and errors came. We lost by a score of 11-3. Key Note: Joe Savino extended his hitting streak to 13 games.

We ten run ruled the A's by a score of 13-3 in 8 innings. Paul Krisanda pitched a complete game 1 hitter giving up only 1 earned run and striking out 15 including 4 in the 2nd inning. Joe Savino extended his hitting streak to 12 games picking up his 25th hit of the season with a single in the 1st inning. He didn't stop there though. Joe got three more singles throughout the game scoring 2 runs and batting in 3.

Congratulations Sid Gibbs and Joe Savino!

Sid Gibbs, Ryan Richards, and Joe Savino represented the Bucs at this year's Pinellas NABA All-Star game at the Lake Vista Complex on June 8, 2003. Sid Gibbs (along with superb pitching from manager Sal Torre) won the home run derby contest. Sid hit 2 jacks in the first round to squeeze into the second. In the second round he put out two more. In the finals, Sid and Sonics player Billy McCallum hit none, but after only one 'swing off,' Sid took the title as the In The Zone Sports Home-Run Derby Champion by hitting a bomb just fair down the left field line. In the All-Star game, the game was scoreless until Buc, Joe Savino was substituted into the game in the 5th inning. In the 7th, Joe got up with the bases loaded and hit an 0-2 pitch on a line into right-center for a 2-run double. The National League tied the game in the 8th. In the 9th though, Savino got the game winning hit to secure his MVP stature. Overall, it was a great day for the Buccaneers. Everyone in the league now knows who the top dogs are!

Quote of the Week:
"Whoever wants to know the heart and mind of America had better learn baseball, the rules and realities of the game--and do it by watching first some high school or small-town teams."
