Australian Maritime College

I am Luke, I am currently studying 2nd year Marine Engineering at the Australian Maritime College in Launceston Tasmania. I usually live with my family in Melbourne. I was born in South Africa and lived there until I was 7 years old. I also lived in New Zealand from when I was 7 to when I was 16 years old.

I've been flying r/c planes since I was about 12, I began on sloap soaring gliders. As I got older I flew electric planes and nitro as well. I have been flying helicopters for about 1 year now, mainly 3D style but I like to just fly a helicopter like a helicopter should fly some days!

My Marine Engineering course, when I've completed it, will allow me to work at sea as an engineer in the 'engine room' of ships. Basically I'll be looking after the ships plant operation and machinery. Last year I had my first trip as an engineering cadet. It was a heap of fun and I learnt an amazing amount. It's cool to be able to walk around the crankcase of the main engine, or stand inside the piston cylinder!!! Another great part of going to sea is seeing all of the places where we pulled into port. I went to Singapore, Papua New Guinea, France, Italy, Egypt - up the Suez Canal!, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Thailand! Good times ahaha.
