Kittie Van Keuren Saxton

Kittie (Katharine) VanKeuren was the child of Abram Van Keuren (b. 12 Aug 1829, d. 22 Oct 1881)and Rachel Ann Legg (b.14 Oct 1830, d. 22 Oct 1893) of Kingston, Ulster County, New York. She was born 23 Jul 1863 in Kingston, Ulster Co., New York. She died on 6 Nov 1947 in Pueblo Colorado. Kittie was burried on 13 Jun 1947 in Roselawn Cemetary in Pueblo Colorado. Kittie married Charles Elmer Saxton of Pueblo Colorado. Charles Saxton was born in Canton, Ohio son of Joseph Simmons Saxton (b. 7 Oct 1829, d. 3 Aug 1903) and Harriet Anna Danner Saxton (b. 15 Jul 1830, d. 17 Mar 1901)

Kittie Van Keuren Saxton

From the Pueblo Chiefton (Colorado)at the time she was married (1887). Miss.Van Keuren was born in Kingston New York and five years ago, she with her mother and brother, her father being dead, moved to Pueblo. Her brother, Mr. Henry Van Keuren is head bookkeeper at the steel works and was talked of as a probable mayor of Bessemer in the last election. They reside on the mesa. Miss VanKeuren has for years been assistant principal of the mesa high school. She is one of the most popular young ladies and is highly esteemed by her pupils and friends as an amiable gentle and refined girl. Her companionship is much sought after by those who can appreciate the society of a friend possessing fine intellect, a fine womanly instinct, and a natural grace and charm of manner. She is a fluent and captivating conversationalist and her beauty is a fitting attrubute to her acquired accomplishments. The bride is a native of Kingston New, York. Her mother came to Bessemer some years ago to to make a home for her sons who are in the employ of CC&I Co. Miss Kittie studied in the Denver University for two years and then was given the position of assistant to the high school which position she occupied until the first of the year. Her work was highly appreciated and her resignation received with regret.

Abram was born on 12 Aug 1829 and christened on 18 Sep 1829 in Ulster, New York. He died on 22 Oct 1881 in Kingston, New York. He married Rachel Ann Legg on 15 November 1854. Rachel is the daughter of Andrew Legg (b. 1792 in Katsbaan, New York) and Catherine Tremper (b. 25 Oct 1793, d. 11 Oct 1860). Abram is the son of Abram G. VanKeuren (b. 21 Mar 1784) and Jannetie Swart (b. 21 May 1797, d. 13 Mar 1851) of Ulster County New York. Abram's sisters and brothers were Elizabeth Van Keuren (b. 2 Dec 1833), James Wells Van Keuren (b. 1 Nov 1834), Margaret Elizabeth Van Keuren (b. 28 Aug 1837), Garret Van Keuren(b. 26 Feb 1823), Nellie Catherine Van Keuren (b 16 Dec 1827). Abram and Rachel's children are Mary Elizabeth VanKeuren (b. 1 Feb 1859), Francis Pidgon Van Keuren(b. 20 Mar 1861), Kittie VanKeuren (b. 23 July 1863), Charles Tremper Van Keuren (4 Sep 1855),

Abram G. is the son of Gerrett VanKeuren (b. 2 Nov 1746) and Margreitje NewKerk(b. 13 Nov 1724, d. 4 Jan 1804) of Ulster County New York. Abram G.
