The current oil paintings are inspired by Owen
Sound Harbour. Documenting and reflecting on the renovation and demolition of
old warehouses and foundries. The
Lakers that frequent the harbour to unload their cargo at the elevators, arouse
the curiosity and imagination with their ominous and foreboding qualities.
These paintings express conflict and beauty using gesture, line and colour, with an expression of intimacy that is aroused by a fascination with the subject. Born in England, where art was an important part of her life, Jean now lives in the Owen Sound and pursues her career as an artist.
